I wonder if chinas blatant ripoffs of western IPs is actually done by a bunch of douchy white guys because the censorship in china makes local developers unaware of the games they're ripping off.
In china, one thing that big business wants is to be admired by people form other countries. This includes America, if only so they can say "America thinks our company is the best, so we are better then them more then all other company!"
So they hire people who look like they are American, and have them pretend to show interest in the company, go to meetings, that sort of thing. I'm pretty sort of certain this "white gentlemen" was hired by the company to shill for their game for that reason exactly.
Exactly. And who is Troy Horton? He worked for four different games as a producer, including Tomb Raider III and Wave Rally.
The launch trailer had his name in big letters in a separate cut, underlining that, yes, a guy who worked with one of the worse (mediocre) Tomb Raider games.
I would like to officially volunteer to be the white guy in China that makes them look good.
