There are several possible meanings. One is that if Bethesda wasn't putting out Skyrim, this game would have been an Oblivion-style "Game of Thrones" title. The second is that the person feels Skyrim is ripping off GoT in some fashion. The third could be that there's snow, which they think perhaps George R.R. Martin has copyrighted or something.

I've read much worse fantasy. And you have to at least give the author credit for pretty much tossing out any kind of plot armor for his characters.

Seeing people react to the end of the first season of the HBO series was kind of amusing. They're apparently unaware of how many apparently major characters bite it as the books progress.

Never read the books. I was going entirely on the series that I lost interest in after 3 episodes. The plot had the glacial pacing of a Mary Worth comic as they kept repeating the same 3 scenes (slave bride rides with barbarians, someone tells Sean Bean not to trust the Lannistars, bastard son sticks up for a fatty) with almost zero plot progression each time.

Plus the dialog all sounded like a dumb person's idea of wit: baby's first intro to subtext.
