Looks like changing up from second requires delicacy, skill, and and an aftermarket torsen diff.

The engine is in the front, the car is rear wheel drive, the engine is pretty powerful, the car is fairly light, it is long and narrow: it's not a very easy car to drive or very reliable for that matter.
mouser
Transmission is at the rear however, balancing the weight.

Most high-powered RWD cars have this control issue. Only way around it is AWD.

FWD don't have this issue obviously but getting traction with more than 300WHP is a damn problem (I know by experience of my current car).

I love rear wheel drive, but Corvettes don't look like (never driven one) a great cornering car.

dr_rock
If you mean reliable as in maintenance, then you are mistaken. My dad has a 2000 vette and it has never had a problem except for one of the headlight motors failing. Then again he doesn't drive it like a fucking idiot.

Mike Tyson?!
Any car with a LS1 is incredibly reliable, and a Corvette is a very docile car to drive. They are engineered to be that way.

Adham Nu'man
No, I meant reliable as in while cornering. Once again, I've never driven a muscle car (there aren't many in my part of the world), but you can tell a lot about how a car handles by looking at other people drive it (beyond idiots who crash it on a straightway).

To me, muscle cars are a very American thing. Only in the US you have so many long, wide roads that seem to go on forever, and muscle cars seem to be a logical development of that environment. They are not really designed with good cornering in mind; undoutedly, there must have been progress in this department throughout the years thanks to technological developments, but that's not their purpose. They are meant to be loud and powerful and they are supposed to grind a highway as a sort of street capable drag racer, guzzling up gas as they tear down the highway in a straight line.

European coupes are designed for winding narrow roads: they are shorter and wider and better suited for gripping the asphalt on tight corners.

I'm no car expert and I drive a fucking Miata, so take everything I said with a grain of salt.

Also, on an unrelated note, while I was in the US, I really loved driving in Arizona, that was fucking awesome. If I had money to throw away foolishly I'd plan a nice driving trip through certain parts of your southern states.

These videos have convinced me that corvettes suck.

Makes me glad I drive a non-muscle car that actually sticks to the road.

A flimsy piece of shit that costs more than most people make in a year.

Then you need a better job. But yes, agreed, 'vettes are silly

Median US household income is just under k.

I'll take a better job, which button do I press for that?

glasseye
The one labeled "born with a silver spoon in your mouth".

jimmicampkin
Judging from a growing body of video evidence, it would appear it isn't just the owners who like to inbreed.
Crackersmack
If you are not retarded it is completely possible to accelerate hard in a Corvette without losing control. It just requires a little practice and common sense.

I bet a bouncer could do it

Huge thigh muscles make it hard to feather the clutch.

Based on these videos I'm getting the idea that Corvettes are the chinese fighting fish of the car world.
memedumpster
Makes you wonder how they ever manage to breed.

Raggamuffin
They have traction control, and it works just fine. If you turn it off however...
