badideasinaction - 2011-12-17 Yeah, I had the industrial floor buffer do that once or twice back in the day - the only difference is it has an electrical cord so the problem self-corrects soon enough once the cord is completely wound around the machine and yanked from the wall.

Burnov - 2011-12-18 Once upon a time I was returning a rather large and heavy dry chemical fire extinguisher to its storage area.
The door was one of those cut-in-half deals in which the lower half of the door served as a desk for signing in and out tools, etc.
It was almost chest height and thus made passing the thing to the attendant more strenuous than it should have been.
The kicker was that the retaining pin for the safety was lost and somebody just jammed a piece of tig rod in there instead... and what would happen to be shaken loose and fall out as I was handing it over.
As I lifted it over the threshold all of sudden I heard a "FWOOOSH" and the entire room was filled with dry chemical. I didn't live that one down for quite some time.

Without the howling and degrading commentary this would've been a 5 star video. I wanna see these fuckers stop that thing without getting hurt.

Raggamuffin - 2011-12-17
Can they really fault these people for stopping work to watch this while they themselves are most likely sitting in an office watching this instead of working?
|
Mancakes - 2011-12-17
Even the guys down there were probably shitting themselves laughing.

memedumpster - 2011-12-17
While I agree that those office workers should be dragged into the street and shot, this is still pretty funny.

garcet71283 - 2011-12-17
Aw get off your Occupy _____ high horses and just laugh. I work in a blue collar place and this kind of stuff is always hilarious.

Kilo147 - 2011-12-17 Bourgeoisie scum! The proletariat will rise against the bastards like you. You and your fat bank account, fancy job, and penthouse apartment! OCCUPY GARCET71283!
Also, this video is funny as hell. The incredibly primitive "poke it with a stick and quickly jump away" instinct is strong, even today with all our technology.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-12-17
When I first watched it I thought one of the workers down there was riding. I see that is not true however. 5 anyway.

The bucket of water was an interesting strategy.

CIWB - 2011-12-17
Oh, come on. Newsflash: a lot of the people who work construction are retards. If any of you hipsters ever spent time with actual people instead of looking at them as case studies of the oppressed working class, you'd realize that. They're not there because they're being oppressed by the man, they're there because they were in the bottom 10 percent of their high school graduating class.
But if it's any consolation, they probably make more money than you ever will.
|
Old_Zircon - 2015-12-17 Maybe it's regional, because quite a few of the people I've known in construction and landscaping were smart and I'd say half of them had at least bachelor's degrees.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2011-12-17
I've worked blue-collar jobs before. A lot of the career guys were a lot smarter than you'd think. They just came from a different culture. I was brought up knowing I'd go to college, get a degree, and get a higher paying job because of it.
I'd say a good portion of blue collar workers are as CIWB (above) described, but many of them are just guys that grew up with parents that taught them that hard work and company loyalty would keep them in their homes and comfortable for their lives. They didn't see any reason to do anything other than be hard productive workers.
And yes, I concur with others: the workers down there were having a great laugh at this scenario. All the days of hard work go by... things like this break up the monotony and give them something to laugh and talk about.
I could go into a long example, but I'll just describe it in a sentence:
Ten workers, aged 20-50, running around laughing their tits off chasing a wild rabbit through a warehouse. True story, I was there.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video; imho the spectators' comments were the icing on the cake, so there!

What's the difference between the camera guy watching this and making jokes and you guys watching this and making jokes?

Jane Error - 2011-12-18
It's pretty goofy to throw water and a tarp at it, but I honestly can't think of what I would have done to stop it.
