Movies are movies. Great, transcendent, revolutionary masterpieces and disposable, banal, corporate trifles are separated by a distance no greater than the thickness of a razor blade or the piece of film it cuts in two. We like to watch the light bounce off of attractive people as they fuck and argue. The Arts are Advertisements for ourselves. Like aftershave.
Godard's post-modernism certainly sucked the meaning out of art. That whole legacy has created the kind of cynicism you're emulating here, but you don't have to travel far to find that there is meaning in Tarkovsky and Bressons and Bergman, these people tapped into some real things that can't be commodified easily, and as a result didn't make a lot of money in most cases.

I know.

Needs yelling french couple tag?
Sire, go forth to Jerusalem and make thine tag active. Bring glory to Gaul.

This is what French people actually believe.
