This game has a prodigiously dick move in it, where one of the pits in the last level warps you all the way back to the start of the game if you fall into it.

That's the sort of thing you could never get away with doing today.

And also why I hate games these days.
Games used to kick you in the balls and laugh at you.
Now you need a fucking tutorial level to tell you how to open a door or jump. JJ & Jeff rules.

But if games were difficult these days you couldn't progress and watch the next deep cutscene from the super complex story! Like, Kratos banging a bunch of chicks and yelling at someone.

Regarding the corner segment, I'd recommend downloading the Super Monkey Daibouken ROM and giving it a try. I have it myself, and it's... it's something else.

It's actually WORSE than Command & Conquer 4, if you can believe that.

Even in Takeshi's Challenge you can at least go around punching people, but in Super Monkey Daibouken nothing happens, ever.

So basically it's like adventure island, except with slightly more variegated mechanics and farting. Why didn't we get stuff like this instead of Milon's Secret Castle?

We got a sanitized version of it. I haven't played it in 21 years, but I remember liking it a little more than Bonk's Adventure.

One of my friends had the JJ & Jeff port, and it was awesome. I think it may have been a little easier than the Japanese version, but I still never made it past the first two levels.
