Because feigned outrage is really useful in getting people to vote for you.

There's not many lead roles for asian actresses inside the U.S. film industry. It was either this or keep desperately waiting for the adaptaion of the next Amy Tan novel.

I'm kind of amazed they didn't ask Michelle Malkin to star. Sure, she's Filipino, but it's not like that seems to matter to either the makers or the target audience of this ad.

To me, that's the most interesting and telling thing about this ad. Apparently not a single person involved in the campaign thought it was racist or offensive. That really says something about the people involved.

I don't think this was racism done under the pretense of being hip. It comes off genuine and calculated. Bonus creative points for making her attractive and giving her that bitchy "I stole your man" style of dialogue delivery. It's tapping American wife insecurity as insurance.
