desperately wanted one as a kid; seeing it now and reading others' comments I think I am better off not having had one.

Haha, I remember being a kid and seeing this and wanting on so bad. Looking back, I'm quite thankful that my parents gave me lincoln logs, G.I. Joes, and plain old hotwheels, and none of this gimmicky electronic crap. Although I will admit, the Radio Shack RC car I got when I was like 11 was pretty fucking rad.
I also remember this advertisement and never used or owned the product in question.
