Say whatever you want about this guy, but the neckbeard really does a good job of camouflaging the bottom 1/3 of his enormous head.

I wonder if this guy still lives in Oklahoma - I think I ran into him the other day.

Quad9Damage - 2012-06-04 It IS interesting - although I picked my name from the 9999 damage limit in old school RPGs.

I don't like this guy and he's said some astoundingly stupid fucking things on the internet, but if he winds up in some small way happier by not working at a call center, than so be it. Not even DemoniousX deserves to work at a fucking call center.

Blue - 2012-06-04 On paper it seems like an easy, laid back job. In practice, it's like doing face to face customer service but with five managers logging every single fucking thing you do down to the second. I say five managers because you have to deal with several different mutually exclusive interpretations of the rules and you kind of have to balance which people you obey based on how popular that interpretation is and whether or not you've gotten in trouble for it.
I've seen a person get a reward for a call and then get pulled into the office to for a demeaning talk and some verbal warning paperwork for the same damn call.
On the bright side, it's pretty easy to get unemployment from them.
|
StanleyPain - 2012-06-04 Call centers are easily the most bullshit workplaces in the US. You have never known inter-office politics and the bullshit of having 50 different "managers" and "supervisors" over you until you have worked in one. They are easily, in my opinion, one of the worst working environments a person can find in terms of corporate jobs and the technical environment. I mean all workplaces have their issues and drama and shit, but call centers, for the most part, are like the worst things about jobs magnified by X10. And I say this as someone who worked in 2 different call centers for a total of only a few years. I don't even comprehend what the fuck is going on with people who stay with them for anything over 5 years.
Yes, it is possible for even a Demonious X person to make a shit ton of money doing an embarrassingly easy job in a call center, but the complete rape of your own dignity and sanity just doesn't even justify it to me personally.
|
Syd Midnight - 2012-06-06 Key phrase there: "own dignity and sanity". He doesn't.
