This was hands-down one of the most gorgeous films I've ever seen. Say what you will about it, Prometheus was incredibly easy on the eyes.

It almost makes me wish we saw Weta's take on Evangelion, before the live-action film was shelved.

I hope the people upset at this were equally upset at the original Alien xenomorph being able to adapt to whatever organism it latches its facehugger form onto. Dog? Human? Predator? No problemo, thanks to Movie Science(TM)!

Five stars for innovative VFX and art direction. Incredible thought, ingenuity and sometimes genius goes into the design and VFX of sometimes horrible movies. I didn't like Prometheus as a story, I didn't like it as a vehicle for characters, but it did inspire a sense of wonder (in spite of the writing).

You may scoff at narrative conceits behind these effects but you'll be thankful for the work Weta did when this stuff is used in the service of a good story or an interesting character. I appreciate imagination and the art direction and VFX supervision of this film were the best I've seen in a long time.

I enjoyed Promotheus, though it's aim was probably more waxing metaphysical than scientific, I went in expecting basically "Alien" but flashier and was pleased that's not what happened.

Though there are some legit and thoughtful criticisms to made about the film that's not what the usual suspects of nerds and spergs seem to be crying about, ah bloo bloo bloo it's not scientifically accurate, they didn't take a month to orbit the planet and collect soil samples and and and a-a-a-a-nd...etc. unlike Alien and Aliens, yet the first two movies that these same nerds fawn over are full of as many scientific inaccuracies and minor plot holes as Prometheus was, if not more. (ignoring the other sequels because, well, please)

Consider strange moments like the crew inexplicably not running any further medical tests on Jon Hurt after he gets faceraped by the facehugger, and Aliens is even worse, with crap like the Colonial Marine officer telling the troops to disarm themselves (without explaining why they should for their own safety), or the humongous Queen somehow stowing away onboard the dropship without anybody noticing.

But then, that's just my humble and probably worthless opinion.

All of you assholes that saw Transformers 2 in the theater should be sterilized. They make movies shitty because they think it will motivate you to go to them and they are right. They take good movies and shit them up for you. Boycott this shit.

Prometheus' effects and design were stellar. One also has to the appreciate the scale of the practical sets used in the film and the lengths they went to in order to minimize the use of CGI. The Temple sets alone should earn someone somewhere a few Oscars or something like that. I mean, they built those interiors for real on a fully connected set where one could walk from one end to the other continuously.
The body suit of the pilot engineer is a fucking work of art. Google up the now-leaked images of the the behind the scenes make-up process for it. The whole thing was hand airbrushed and when it you see up close it looks like a living Giger painting.

Very artsy, but is still obviously CG, even in still images, making it shit special effects.

Science was stupid, ending was stupid, the motivations were completely stupid, but goddamn I still enjoyed this movie a lot.
