If you love Jesus and don't want people going to hell, they you need to give me money. And not like a pathetic little 0, I mean REAL money. Which will be used to recruit more people I can get money from.

And don't come whining about "Oh, I'm unemployed, sick, and trying to support my kids", or "I'm not a part of your church or religion". Not acceptable excuses. You just give more, and God will sort things out. I presume so anyway, because for some reason he's not sorting my finances out which is why I'm pressuring you.

I love how he dismisses "not-Christian" as an invalid reason to not just hand him hundreds of dollars.

Do you even realize how expensive shit is in Heaven? Jesus needs at least a 00 a day just to feed his cocaine habit!

Blue
They're giving prayers. Those are more valuable than any money they could give. Where's God? Did it turn out that he doesn't exist?

If you're a poor single mom, you still need to give money and trust that God will take care of you and your bills.

Why can't the church just spend money and assume God will take care of their debts? Err... Hey look over there!

You know the only bright spot in this video for me is that if this cunt is right, Jesus is the son of god, and he has been more or less accurately quoted, he is properly fucked.

Matthew 23:

The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

You know how there are those who think that churches, not the government, should take over feeding the poor? The current SNAP budget is about 9 billion, and there are about 335,000 churches in the US. That means each and every church, great and small, would be responsible for 5,000 or so of charitable donations to the poor. Know any churches that could extract that from their base?

I much prefer our current system, where the funding pool consists of people from every walk of life: Christians, atheists, Zoroastrians, Sufis, Jedis, Bronies, Elvis impersonators, and corporations. Poverty is too big to trust with people who occasionally feel bad about a passage in Matthew for a couple hours.

You're right, I'm going off the proposed 2013 budget, and conflating SNAP with other related programs ... the argument remains the same:

http://dpss.lacounty.gov/dpss/IGR/pdf/federal/Summary_of_Presi dents_2013_Budget_Proposal_APHSA.pdf

---

For nutrition programs, the budget proposes a total of over 9 billion, compared to about 5.5 billion last year. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would receive .885 billion in benefits for FY 2013, a slight decrease from an estimated .335 billion in benefits for FY2012. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) would be fully funded for 9.1 million participants.

The budget would temporarily suspend the participation time limit for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWD) requirements for another year, and the SNAP benefit increases passed under stimulus legislation would be re-extended to March 31, 2014 (they currently terminate October 31, 2013).

To combat food deserts, the Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, and Treasury have proposed to make available approximately more than 0 million in financing to community development financial institutions, other nonprofits, public agencies, and businesses with sound strategies for addressing the healthy food needs of communities.

I wasn't addressing your argument, actually. I don't think churches should have to pay for the poor either, mainly because I don't think churches should exist. I don't think Nazis should have to rebuild Detroit either, for largely the same reason.

I was just interested because the SNAP pdf had everything in millions of dollars.

I don't think churches should be counted on to take care of the poor either; they have a historically shitty track record. Just pointing out that, for those people who think caring for the poor should be relegated to churches, this is the scale of commitment required ... completely beyond what could reasonably be expected from churches and voluntary contributions.

We have been arguiing about nothing! BOO-YAH!

A slightly less confrontational form of this sermon is given roughly twice a year at just about every church in the US. It's not noteworthy in any way.

Except the pastor usually isn't this much of an obvious money-grubbing sleezeball.

Also, I am totally stealing the phrase "we'll have a separate conference for those people, in a PHONE BOOTH".

One of these shitholes opened up in an empty Old Navy here. So many layers to the metaphor of Christianity's decline.

I thought this was another schizophrenic person with a youtube account when i voted for this in the hopper. I was right.
