Fun fact: when Castle first started doing this, he used a rigid plastic skeleton, until the thread it was suspended from broke and the skeleton bonked a studio exec in the head. After that, Castle used inflatable skeletons that were safer, but kids in the audience tried popping them with slingshots.

To quote Vincent Price, William Castle "wasn't a GREAT filmmaker, but he knew how to make this kind of movie."

Here's a clip that I posted two years ago. It's the scene where Castle sets the audience up for the climax forty minutes later. Castle knows how important this scene is, and everything about this scene is carefully planned out. There's nothing haphazard about the angles, the sound, where everybody's standing. The scene is deliberately choreographed, and everybody, even the usually cool Price, seems nervous in this place of special danger.

The man was more than gimmicks, but the gimmicks were pretty cool.
