Lizards and other reptiles harbor terrible, terrible bacteria and viruses.
Whenever I feed, handle or clean the cage of our iguana, I wash my hands vigorously. I would never, in a million years, put my lips anywhere hear her.

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-09 It's funny, I keep hearing that lately but I handled tons of snakes and turtles and the occasional lizard all throughout my childhood and didn't pay any attention to washing my hands and I definitely had them near or on my face on plenty of occasions), and I never got sick once. Of all the people in my adult life I've met who have cold-blooded pets (usually turtles), only one of them paid any attention to the potential for getting sick, yet none of them ever did. At this point I'm skeptical that anyone without a seriously compromised immune system is likely to get sick from one of these guys.

I recall that Henry Lizardlover has a grudge against another author - Melissa Kaplan- that wrote an iguana guide book with incorrect information. Both people are basically shy of a screwdriver in their toolkit, but Lizardlover seems to know what he was talking about.
there was at one point a feud between the two people, with Melissa's involvement with PETA. Other than that, I don't really know much about what happened between them right now.
