Comment count is 27

You'd think he would have a little more sympathy for those who don't pay taxes, given how much effort he has expended over the years to do just that.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-18

Not to mention the actual taxes paid by those present as a percentage of income should be appalling enough to start a re-enactment of the French Revolution.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-09-18

One might have hoped a press monkey would have asked the obvious follow on question "Governor, based on your comments, do you believe it is the patriotic duty of every American to pay their full and fair share of taxes?"

jangbones - 2012-09-18

half of Americans pay income tax

a third of Americans pay payroll tax

ten percent are retired, and about ten to fifteen percent work but make less than twenty thousand dollars a year, so they are exempt

in reality, the people to whom Romney is referring are about one percent

but since when does reality make any difference to this discussion?

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-18

Sour grapes on his part.

memedumpster - 2012-09-18

"You said a number of things there..."
"I'm speaking to answer a question..."
"This is really a discussion about the political process of winning an election..."

This man has no inner dialog and has to constantly remind himself what he's doing.

chumbucket - 2012-09-18

"..as time goes on."
"..a message I'm going to carry.."
"..this is about creating jobs.."
"..I want to help all Americans.."
"..the process of campaigns.."

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-09-18

It takes him so many words to say absolutely nothing.

chumbucket - 2012-09-18

I will help campaign for the sad trombone version of this video as suggested in the Description.

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-18

I would consider voting Romney if Sad Trombone was his running mate.

chairsforcheap - 2012-09-18

i'm feeling more slide whistle at this point

Anaxagoras - 2012-09-18

Yeah, but slide whistle got a blowjob from yakkity sax. I can't condone that.

chairsforcheap - 2012-09-19

Wait till they dig up the dirt on his brother Rusty.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-18

They picked Romney instead of "authentic" conservatives like Bachmann and Santorum, because he seemed like the better salesman. He's starting to look like Willy Loman.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-09-18

I'm presuming (hoping) that he'll eventually degrade into being Gil from the Simpsons by Election Day.

chairsforcheap - 2012-09-18

!!! ghost stars... i can already hear Gil in his voice

Corpus Delectable - 2012-09-19

Come on, Mitt! Ohh, why did I bet the election on making fun of poor people? Mitt's in a lot of trouble...

cognitivedissonance - 2012-09-18

He bullied his way into the candidacy, and largely because Chris Christie couldn't sneak away and have that "life changing miracle diet" (lipo) without anybody noticing.

I know everybody is saying things will change when the Rove money starts hitting, but Rove is nothing if not practical. He's throwing it into the House and Senate races, where it's not good money after bad. At this point, Romney has actually PROVEN himself to be an unrelatable alien to the human race, and that's a deficit that can't be bought off.

The irony here is that if Obama gets a second term, the Paultards won't put up with staying in the party anymore. The Southerners will feel viscerally betrayed by the GOP, and no amount of pandering will keep them from getting the Fundamentalist they want. Paul Ryan will run, but he'll be weakened enormously when he's got a failed nomination and the (inevitable) budget compromise under his belt. Criswell speaks.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2016-07-04

HELLO FROM THE FUTURE

Donald Trump. Donald Fucking Trump.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-09-18

He's just a top hat away from being Hollingsworth Hound.

The Mothership - 2012-09-18

And this is why he will not win. Doing the same thing that Dole and McCain did; trying to sound like somebody he is not.

Louis Armstrong - 2012-09-18

But that's the thing. This is the most genuine I have ever seen Mitt Romney. Bumpling, nervous, Plastic smile. This is the Real Mitt Romney.

Hooker - 2012-09-18

Why have the rich decided that the middle of a recession is the perfect time to make their grab for significantly lower taxes? That just seems staggeringly incompetent to me.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-09-18

Complete and total detachment from the average American.

Their greatest strength is also their greatest weakness.

poorwill - 2012-09-19

'Low taxes!' is their answer to every situation. It must be boring trying to think of different ways to say it.

poorwill - 2012-09-19

This is the speech he should have given:

dead_cat - 2012-09-19

What I want to know is if that 47% includes certain people who can afford to hide their income in foreign banks, and people who run hugely profitable businesses yet still receive billions in welfare from the government.
