One of my favorite things about the advent of torrents and the ever-plummeting cost of HDD space is that I have pretty much all the MST3K that I'll ever need on my hard drive now.

Kabbage - 2012-09-23 Yeah, back in the day (2005) I had to buy all of these episodes from a dude on my forums in like 25 separate DVDs.
It was 60 and obviously it was one of the better purchases I ever made, but still. MST3K in its entirety is but a click away these days.

A while back I saw a live show of Cinematic Titanic (original MST cast riffing bad movies) and there was this exchange as a character scampered up a craggy embankment.
Trace Beaulieu: "Hey, Joel. Rock climbing."
*riotous applause and cheers*
Joel Hodgson: "Hey, Trace. Pandering."

Millard - 2012-09-21 Neither Cinematic Titanic nor Rifftrax have done much for me. I guess the natural progression from having eight writers in a room to 2 or 3 just cuts down the funny by a similar proportion.

Kabbage - 2012-09-23 It's not as good, no. I've enjoyed Cinematic Titanic's "The Alien Factor" quite a bit. That's worth a watch, definitely. (it's one of their live ones)
For Rifftrax, get "Jack the Giant Slayer". Saw that one live and it was really something special.

THE movie to watch if guys awkwardly clambering over the same fake mountain sets is your thing.

MST3K does a great job at presenting us obscure crap movies that we would never know of otherwise.
Their garbage inane chatter ruins gems they dug up.

dementomstie - 2012-09-21 Yeah, MST3K totally ruined classics like "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" and "The Day The Earth Froze". And they mocked "Mr. B Natural" so much that it completely lost all the educational content it contained. "MANOS: Hands of Fate", "Mitchell", "Merlin's Shop Of Magical Wonders", "Eegah!", "Beginning of the End", "Teenage Caveman", "Final Sacrifice" all of them ruined and completely forgotten because of the merciless mocking that they received from the heartless writers. It's not like they helped encourage an entire generation to watch bad movies for the sheer enjoyment. Gems like "The Incredible Creatures That Stopped Living and Became Crazy Mixed Up Zombies" FOREVER TARNISHED!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-22 I did have one friend who hated MST3K, but he was born during the time a lot of these movies were made and thought it was unfair to poke fun because these were the Avatar of their day. He was especially upset at the episode that used the Gene Hackman/Gregory Peck film "Marooned," which I guess was his generation's "Apollo 13."

THERE'S A WHOLE OTHER MOUNTAIN UP HERE!
|
BHWW - 2012-09-21 Though everyone remembers "rock climbing" I seem to have to jog peoples' memories of the Mads' followup from Hercules Against the Moon Men - "saaaaaaaaandstorm" which does for actors wandering around phony sandstorms what this movie did for guys crawling up a fake mountain i.e. scenes that seem to go on endlessly.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-22 The movie that has the most nothing in it is "Starfighters." It's a kind of "Top Gun" type movie but with no plot, nothing happens, and I think some kid makes his dad proud by joining this fighter aircraft military program.
