jangbones - 2012-10-10 You are looking at this the wrong way.
Assume that Christianity is the only true religion and that all non-Christians are your enemy. Yes, even Jews. Now you can start to see things from their perspective.
Their twisted, worthless perspective.

He forgot to say how it mentions how to treat your slave.
Wait wait wait... da fuck? The bible says how it's inappropriate to implement a Capital Gains Tax?
"28 I promise you that any of the sinful things you say or do can be forgiven, no matter how terrible those things are. 29 But if you lock-in gains or try and repeal the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever."

Because the book that has God telling his chosen people to bash open a bunch of babies' heads on some rocks is the book for pro-lifers to use in guiding their ideal legislation.

Capitation tax?

Beyond parody.
"Here's what you need to know outta Leviticus..."
A CAPITATION tax is a good tax?? You mean a great big word for an archaic head tax that hasn't had a use in our country in a century except for voter disenfranchisement? We're already slowly mathematically converging on the flat tax dreamt of years ago as a paradise for the rich. (while in effective terms often being able to best it through accounting) In a hundred years, will the debate be so far reframed by corpo-religio-plutocrats that "economic freedom" will mean we all pay 20 or 50 grand a pop or whatever for the privilege of being American citizens and then it's a free for all?
|
SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-10-11 I'd ask you to define "effective," as even if you have an inescapable flat tax, it still bones the poor far more than the rich.
|
Grandmaster Funk - 2012-10-11 What I meant was that in the present system, you can often beat an "inescapable" flat tax even as a rich person (by paying no taxes, or mostly capital gains or whatever).

There should be a term for the nutjobbery that's trying to edge its way into the mainstream: Crackpot Creep.

If a female relative of his is raped by someone and she isn't a virgin, he's okay with the rapist buying her for 50 shekels of silver? It boggles my mind that people can buy into this crap and still figure out how to vote
