I dunno, without context, ehhh

I hate the way sitcoms feel the need to explain the joke. I know Amy Poehler is a funny and talented comedic actor and writer, but, "Oh, God, not the gotcha dancers" is nothing but making sure the biggest idiot in the room still understands what isn't even a subtle joke.

Hooker - 2012-10-20

The worst example of it, which pains me every time I see it, is on The Simpsons. Homer is at Moe's, and he's asking Moe for advice for a friend of his (Joey-joe-joe Shabadoo), which is obviously just Homer. Moe says it's the stupidest name he's ever heard, at which point a man at the end of the bar starts crying and flees the bar. Hilarious joke, ruined by Barney immediately shouting, "Joey-joe-joe!"

vagueness is not the same as subtlety

Old_Zircon - 2012-10-20

I prefer vagueness these days.

I agree that this sucks, but it doesn't detract from the fact that Hooker really doesn't get that joke.

Old_Zircon - 2012-10-20

Well that's one more show I don't have to watch.

kennydra - 2012-10-20

Don't judge it on this, it really is a funny show.

Seriously. Come for Ron and stay for Ron and Andy.
