That was horrifying.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-10-21
Cute, but just as pointless as any right-wing alarmist "predictions" about how God will let Satan destroy America if a Democrat wins.
|
Udderdude - 2012-10-21 That is a ridiculous comparison and you know it.

|
Binro the Heretic - 2012-10-22 The problem is the people stupid enough to vote based solely on alarmist propaganda vote Republican anyway because they're stupid enough to believe rich people want them to be rich, too or because Jesus wants them to or some other idiotic bullshit.

Good thing Obama isn't trying to go to war with Iran!
oh wait

Old_Zircon - 2012-10-21 Well there is this

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-10-21 Obama's administration has been pretty gung ho about war with Iran. Par example:

Bort - 2013-10-08 October 2013 and STILL no war with Iran.
In fact, Obama just recently called the leader of Iran for the first direct talk our leaders have had in decades. Clearly this is just the prelude to war, though, amirite?
|
Bort - 2014-05-21 May 2014: our status with Iran remains decidedly un-war-like. The approximate number of troops, planes, ships, and missiles directed at Iran is 0, rounded to the nearest integer. So, when's this big war with Iran going to start?
Also, remember how you were for sure certain that Obama wanted to start a war with Syria? That hasn't happened either, and if he were half the neocon you claim he is, he could have at least started drumming up support for a war. He's even got some sort of excuse, in that Assad has been somewhat uncooperative in turning his chemical weapons over to the UN. That's certainly grounds to start beating the war drum if your goal is war.
If you're so damn certain that Obama wants to drag us into another round of wars, aren't you obligated at some point to either supply evidence or admit that it's mostly in your head?
|
Bort - 2015-07-15 July 2015: eat crow, shit, or humble pie, RoUS. Whichever you prefer.
|
Bort - 2015-11-16 November 2015: still no war. But Obama did manage to work out a nuclear treaty with Iran.
Boy, that Obama's going to kill us all at this rate! We're fucking DOOMED.
|
Bort - 2017-06-04 Trump's in office and Obama didn't take us to war with Iran.

They forgot to include Ryan's Medicare voucher solution.

Romney won in November 6th, two thousand AND twelve? So, he won on November 6th of December of the year 2000?

longwinded - 2012-10-21 good one i can see we've got some real up and comers around here

HEY GUYS REMEMBER WHEN EVERYONE SAID BUSH WOULD CAUSE WORLD WAR III IF HE GOT RE-ELECTED??!?!?!?!?!?
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-10-21 I mean, he kind of already had at that point. Or does it only count when it's on European soil?
|
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-10-22 A million people is a pretty steep price for a spoiled rich kid's tantrum while in power.
|
themilkshark - 2012-10-22 Bush did get re-elected and he TANKED THE WORLD ECONOMY. FUCK YOU FUNNY GUY.
|
dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-10-22 My point wasn't that Romney being president wouldn't suck; my point was that grossly baseless predictions of dystopian scenarios like this crap are stupid.
During the last election, the McCain camp made an attack ad against Obama with the same gist as this video against Romney, ironically. Except it was about a quarter in length and thousands of dollars more in cost.
|
jangbones - 2012-10-21
anyone predicting how Romney would lead is kidding themselves, he is one of the biggest cyphers in recent American political history (even more than John Kerry)
somehow, he has managed to passionately speak out on both sides of some of the most important issues to American voters and not get destroyed for it
if you ever doubted that second-term presidential elections are nothing more than a referendum on the incumbent, this is glaring evidence
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-10-21 I bed he'd only be slightly farther right than Obama on most issues, but he'd be far enough right on enough of the really important areas (supreme court appointments, environmental stuff, women's health) that Obama's still a better choice in my book.
This is based on living in Boston under Romney for almost a decade.

memedumpster - 2012-10-21
I believed this was well done until the History Channel logo. That destroyed all the credibility of this fake video.
|
Blue - 2012-10-21 In the future, the History Channel is actually a very good source of information. They wisely corrected course after a series of 2012 related tradgedies led an angry mob to bar the doors of their offices and set the building on fire.
This is probably as good a time as any to point out that the claims about the 2012 apocalypse didn't exist prior to their appearance on the History Channel. They are the original source for that shit.
|
Aelric - 2012-10-22 No, I had heard about that Mayan calendar shit in the 80s. It's a pretty old nutbar theory.
|
Blue - 2012-10-22 I can't find anything actually published about it prior to that show. It's hard to draw the line when it comes to made up bullshit. People say all sorts of shit. Ideally they wouldn't put it on their fucking shows if it wasn't true. Personally, I don't see the difference between making something up and reaching into a sea of stupid people saying clearly untrue things and picking something that is to your liking.
That said, though, I don't know that it actually does go that far back. What exactly did you hear? The 2012 meme is actually the union of two separate ideas: that the Mayan calendar ends and that the Mayans predicted the end of the world. Plenty of people were saying that the calendar ends and suggesting it might mean the end of the world, but the claim that there was actually a prediction to that effect is a relatively recent one. That's the part of it I blame the History Channel for.
|
memedumpster - 2012-10-22 First time I heard the world was ending in 2012 was fifteen years ago from a friend of mine who is a self proclaimed prophet. He was the only source for years for all of us, then he got pissed when it became a popular notion in spite of us yelling "HOLY SHIT THE WORLD AGREES WITH YOU!"
