Why does it have a crucifix on it? Is is some kind of robot priest?
Japan has a weird relationship with judo-christian symbols and mythos. "Neon Genesis Somethingorother" borrowed heavily from the Bible...although they didn't quite seem to know what to do with it. I guess it's similar to the way westerners treat eastern philosophies like a big metaphysical salad bar.
