What scares me is in the end the caterpillar seemed to figure out the guy was only touching him to make him squeal and knew that if it stopped squealing, the guy would stop fucking with him.

CJH - 2012-12-08

a surprising place to find one of the animal kingdom's most clever responses to being trolled

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-12-08

Perfect evidence that you shouldn't always feed the trolls.

SolRo - 2012-12-09

what is more likely;

the 'eat leaves/dont get eaten by birds' mental capacity of a caterpillar understands the concept of curiousity and novelty enough to stop itself from being that to a wierd hairless monkey after realizing it probably wont get eaten.

or

whatever muscles it uses to make that noise cant keep going continuously.

James Woods - 2012-12-09

Or, that's just how long it took for the caterpillar to realize the repeated sensation he was experiencing was not actually a threat.

James Woods - 2012-12-09

He doesn't appear to be applying much pressure.

simon666 - 2012-12-09

SolRo, master of the obvious, everybody.

CJH - 2012-12-09

these beasts are more clever than you give credit, solro. weaving cocoons is a pretty complex task, i bet you couldn't even make me a scarf

frau_eva - 2012-12-09

The caterpillar's just starting to realize that this isn't a threatening touch. This advanced science classroom I saw once had Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches that just didn't hiss anymore because they had been handled so much. The caterpillar thing may become totally accustomed eventually as well.

James Woods - 2012-12-09

That's what IIIIII saaaaaaaid. :(

baleen - 2012-12-10

SolRo has made me exactly four scarves, and I love each one more than the last.

delicatessen - 2012-12-08

IT'S AFRAID

SolRo - 2012-12-08

I would like to know more.

James Woods - 2012-12-09

He doesn't appear to be applying much pressure.

James Woods - 2012-12-09

That wasn't supposed to go there.

Syd Midnight - 2012-12-11

Yeah but one can imagine an entirely new scene based on that

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-12-12

Zim caught a bug.

duck&cover - 2012-12-08

Mothra's gonna kick your ass if you don't stop picking on her kid.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-12-09

Cute as a bug. O-O-OoD:

The Mothership - 2012-12-09

That thing is huge. and adorable.

DriverStabby - 2012-12-09

Why is everyone so mean to bugs today?

DriverStabby - 2012-12-09

Fuck me for being so used to clicking 5 stars.

Hooker - 2012-12-09

Honestly, you were going to throw a one-star fit because someone was being "mean" to a caterpillar? I mean, seriously?

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2012-12-09

Walnut sphinx caterpillars compress like a mini accordion and push the air out of their spiracles.

So it's basically almost side farts.

Robin Kestrel - 2012-12-09

Also, it's sexually attracted to fire.

DriverStabby - 2012-12-10

Aren't we all.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-12-12

It was a squeal of pleasure. This caterpillar gets off on fear.
