I'm about 15 minutes in and hoping that this guy figures out that his fitness instructor is lying about being a natural bodybuilder.

grimcity - 2012-12-09 After watching this, I believe him. I was calling bullshit at first, but after you see what homie goes through, I guess you can do it without being a roidmonster.

jangbones - 2012-12-09 a good friend of mine was in perfect shape and a pure vegan, no steroids no nuthin

Doomstein - 2012-12-09 Getting a bodybuilder body is Totally do-able. But as demonstrated by this video, it takes a huge amount of personal sacrifice and misery.
Only thing is that without steroids you have a limit on how big your muscles can get because of genetics.
So while you may want a Ronnie Coleman body. You're natural limit may be a Charles Atlas body.
But a Charles Atlas body is pretty damn good.

jangbones - 2012-12-10 "destroying" is an interesting term because if you don't try to look like a gorilla (Jersey Shore term), it can actually be very beneficial
running has a plethora of positive health effects, yet marathon runners have enlarged hearts and declining life expectancy the more they do it

I was this guy. Sort of. I started from a point where I was already fit and looking pretty good in my mid 20s but I thought that I could really take it to the next level and look really hot.
Long story short I got obsessive and overtrained and got borderline anorexic. The hard work in bodybuilding is not the weight lifting. that is the easy part. The murderously difficult and crazy-inducing part is the dieting. the bodybuilder diet is high in protein and very low in fats and carbohydrates. your body naturally craves fat and carbohydrates. So you have a goal in your head that you need to drop fat percentage, and you have urges to eat sugar and fat, and when you starve yourself you feel proud and when you indulge you feel guilty. This is a recipe for mental instability. See him at 34:10; that is real that is and I know how he feels.
Achieving that shredded look and living a lifestyle where you try to achieve that look all the time is impossible for people with a regular life, or kids, or like me when I was trying to finish a PhD. Eventually I found balance; I still work out a lot and I can see my abs but I'm not chasing that 1% bodyfat anymore. 10% is good enough for me now.
Still, this is an amazing body transformation in under a year. That guy did some incredible things.
