A lot of people think the "*" in his name is silent. Actually, the "star" is silent.

Loved the opening "TALLY-HAWWWWK" as a kid.
I guess they thought having a Mum-Ra stand in would seem different enough if they made his non-powerful (less powerful?) form not quite so feeble. Maybe it saved on action figure molds, too.
Also, that's no squid, that's a baby Reaper!*
* better ending than the actual one for ME3.

So basically a poor man's mumm-ra? Wait, rich man's mumm-ra? It's so hard to get a hold on how these shitty 80s cartoons stack up.

The process applies a crunchy outer layer to Mon*Star, that keeps in the flavor for long periods of time.
So to do this they had to set off dozens of artificial volcanoes and alter the orbit of an entire planet? Seems like a lot of trouble to go to just to put on a disguise.

Mon Star's voice acting is amazing.
Just checked the IMDB. His voice was provided by Earl Hammond, who also did Mumm-Ra (as well as Jaga and Vultureman).
He seems to have had a career tied to anime dubs and moderately-good-to-crappy animation through the end of the 90's.

This is the only thing I remember about this show, probably because I had a Mon*Star action figure for some reason as a kid. I didn't even realize it was called "Silverhawks" until this came up in the hopper.

I remember being very excited at the possibility of a space giant squid when I was 6. I often drew giant squid because I was obsessed with them.

Screw squids, the real kickass part of this show was electro-country vs keytar rock.
