Its not like cutting the scene out would detriment the story or the viewer's understanding of this godawful mess.

GovtCensor - 2013-01-02

They could have just pixelated them, but hardly anyone knows that there are places where women take their clothes off for money. Imagine if word got out? Wait no DON'T IMAGINE JESUS CHRIST NO!

delicatessen - 2013-01-02

Now the whole family can enjoy showgirls

The Mothership - 2013-01-02

Precisely.

misterbuns - 2013-01-02

1995? This was probably done on Matador one of the first 2d digital effects programs. It was command line and horrible but revolutionary.

This was rotoscoped, and rotoscoped very badly: not by professional 2d animators who know how to keyframe. Alot of floppy interpolation. So this probably was done very quickly and cheaply. But this is showgirls, so who knows. Maybe it took a year and cost a squillion dollars. The point is it looks horrible.

I love it.

urbanelf - 2013-01-02

I had a lot of floppy interpolation while watching this as well.

BiggerJ - 2013-01-02

Man-hours? The people who did this were not men. Or women. Or people.

BHWW - 2013-01-02

They were driven by cold and inhuman parameters totally alien to our understanding.

cognitivedissonance - 2013-01-02

Why climb the mountain?

Because it's there.

Riskbreaker - 2013-01-02

Why put a moustache to the mountain?

duck&cover - 2013-01-02

This doesn't really compromise the artistic integrity of the work. It's no Michelangelo's "Last Judgment," or anything.

cognitivedissonance - 2013-01-02

It's nothing short of our epoch's Stonehenge. A work of singular, mysterious beauty, echoing through the ages with wordless wisdom.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-02

-2 because there weren't cleaned up pole dancing scenes.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-02

Here's a pretty extensive review of the TV version (with some NSFW comparison screenshots):

Wander - 2013-01-02

Jesus, was that written by a 10 year old?

-1 star for this link.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-02

You did notice that it includes a download of the entire TV edit, right?

TeenerTot - 2013-01-02

I've never seen this. Is it a remake of Girl in Gold Boots?

love - 2013-01-02

don't listen to the haters.
it's starship troopers in vegas.
it is amazing.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-02

It's Macbeth, if Macbeth was a softcore porn flick with lots of dry humping.

Watch it.

Bort - 2013-01-02

Hey, don't talk smack about "Girl in Gold Boots"; GiGB actually flirted with quality. The story was pretty well structured (except for the dune buggy part), the characters revealed themselves through action, and character traits established early in the film were consistently leveraged as the movie built to its conclusion. George Lucas only wishes he could write a script with the quality of "Girl in Gold Boots", and for that matter I can think of a lot of big movies that weren't constructed as well.

I only wish they had enough of a budget for more than one special effect.

Paracelsus - 2013-01-02

It is garbage so awful that many men report not even being able to make it to the wankable parts.

themilkshark - 2013-01-02

Digital, floppy, unsupportive bra

Stopheles - 2013-01-02

I'm eagerly awaiting an active "Toontown lingerie" tag.

FABIO - 2013-01-02

Oh, Kyle MacLachlan.

You could have done anything after Twin Peaks.

You chose to do this and Flintstones.

You forced Twin Peaks into the awful season 2 "Audrey + Billy Zane" subplot because you refused to have your character get together with her due to standards.

and then you did this.

pressed peanut sweepings - 2013-01-02

Audrey was hot as hell.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2013-01-02

Logo aired this twelve times in a row, as its entire "24 Hour Salute to Great American Cinema."

I'm just saying, if Logo wants to air "tongue-in-cheek" camp, MGM has more in its library than just Showgirls. Break out The Apple, or Can't Stop the Music, or something.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-03

Can't Stop the Music is incredible.

Hailey2006 - 2013-01-09

It looks like they borrowed underwear from Jessica Rabbit!
