The breakdown potential of the human skin is only 400-500V, so this is actually reasonably dangerous

chairsforcheap - 2013-01-24

i think the arcing illustrates that pretty well

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-01-24

Once the arc is established, it only takes about 20V to keep it going. We're seeing current arcing here as CFC sez, not sparking from the high voltage. OP is right, current will burn you, voltage does not.

I know this personally for I had once accidentally taken a 250,000V shock from a DC multiplier stack. There was an enormous bang, a 2 foot bolt emerged from the dome, and entered my right index finger. The spark exited my right big
toe to ground. Outside of being knocked on my ass, the only thing hurt was my pride.

chairsforcheap - 2013-01-24

oh yeah, i should have mentioned i know nothing of electricity other than the time i grabbed onto a cow pasture wire with both hands while standing waist deep in a muddy creek in full scuba gear, because i tapped it, received no shock, and assumed it was off

memedumpster - 2013-01-24

I was once burned by radio.

You never want that to happen. Ever.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-24

I got 120v AC from my left temple to my right hand about a decade ago at band practice, but somehow despite traveling through my heart and my brain it didn't do anything other than making me feel a bot uneasy for half an hour or so.

Kabbage - 2013-01-30

Zircon how are you alive

Bort - 2013-01-24

"The batteries are being disposed of properly."

By which I assume he takes them to a community theater production of "Godspell" and whips them at the actors.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-24

I just assumed he's already in the cast of a community theater production of "Godspell" because how else are you going to get that many free batteries?

Kabbage - 2013-01-30

hahahaha

gravelstudios - 2013-01-24

I'm surprised none of the batteries burst. This guy is lucky he didn't set his house on fire. I hear voices, footsteps, etc. in the background. Is this guy married? Does he have kids? does his wife know about this?

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-01-24

It's prolly a good thing we're not neighbors; what ever would you make of my 1 megawatt pulse forming network in the garage?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-01-24

Three and a half million views. Yikes!

chumbucket - 2013-01-24

obsession

fluffy - 2013-01-24

Coulda sworn this was already on here.

It's cute how he thinks that the LED is flashing twice rather than it being a rolling shutter effect of his camera, and I'm amazed that the high levels of voltage combined with the internal resistance didn't make them catch on fire even when he was just measuring the voltage.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-24

Same here, and within the past week too, but I can't find it. Maybe Youtube's recommendations are finally starting to work (spoiler: they aren't).

PegLegPete - 2013-01-24

What is a 1 megawatt pulse forming network? That sounds awesome.

Jeriko-1 - 2013-01-24

5'd for Garth's doomsday machine being real.

You now realize Garth would have KILLED that guy.
