It was RIGGED! For MONEY! They're just trying to promote some big fancy Hollywood movie, The Rock would NEVER WIN IN A REAL FIGHT AGAINST CM PUNK RAAAARRRGGGHHHH BULK SMASH!!!!!!!!

OxygenThief - 2013-01-29

Nooooo. Please don't make the pile of crap on the ground a little bit messier!

Hugo Gorilla - 2013-01-29

And you thought wrestling fans were stupid before tthe companies admitted to the kayfabe shenanigans..

StanleyPain - 2013-01-29

A person being into WWE is sort of an indicator of mental illness as far as I'm concerned and I'm glad when someone is very forthcoming about their fandom so I can basically stay away from them.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

Give me a break. There are far worse fandoms out there. We're just like any other sports fans. We enjoy watching the shows and making a big deal out of them, because it makes it fun. His anger demonstrates how fun being a wrestling fan is.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2013-01-29

I'm pretty sure you at wrong. It's almost impossible to rig who wins the NBA finals or the World Series. Yet who wins and loses in wrasslin is always rigged.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2013-01-29

Er are

sosage - 2013-01-29

I'm genuinely, perhaps gullibly, surprised people still react to wrasslin in this way. It's like getting angry that your favorite super hero got beat by some other super hero in a cartoon.

Xenocide - 2013-01-29

That's something that people get mad about all the time, sadly.

A website recently put up a video which explained (over half a goddamn hour) that Superman would beat Goku in a fight.

The comments section was basically World War III.

Riskbreaker - 2013-01-29

The NBA and world series are not rigged, yet they're still sports where their athletes consume all kinds of performance substances.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-29

I'm sure plenty of people get angry that their favorite super hero got beat by some other super hero in a cartoon, too.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2013-01-30

Riskbreaker, yeah but the games aren't rigged. In 'wrasslin', they pretty much know who's going to throw the match before they even accept it. And, they WILLINGLY throw the match. Look at your typical 'wrasslin' match. It's not like the two people really hate each other or really go at it.

Doomstein - 2013-01-29

You know, I found myself embarrassed once that I had a single, small VF-1 Valkyrie toy from Macross on my bookcase, because I thought it came off as childish.

This video has corrected my perspective, and Skull One is going back on the bookcase.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-29

I have an SDF-1 from when I was a kid that is about 16 inches tall and has detachable carriers and can transform. I'm not at all ashamed of it.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-29

And Roy Fokker rules, don't be ashamed of that.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-29

A 12" statue of Tetsuo for me.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

NEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDSSSSS!

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-29

I've got the bootleg Radio Shack star scream with the accidental penis-trigger proudly displayed.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-29

Err, Shockwave. The one that turned into a gun.

glasseye - 2013-01-30

It's an evil rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail for me.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

You guys don't get it. CM Punk had the longest title reign in over 25 years just to lose it to the goddamn tooth fairy. The Rock can just stroll into WWE after ditching the company for 7 years and beat Cena at Wrestlemania and take CM Punk's title. Its some fucking bullshit.

Gmork - 2013-01-29

Are you still under the impression "titles" mean anything at all?

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

That's what they're fighting for. Would Cena be as great wtihout 10 WWE Championship Reigns? CM Punk with the longest reign in over 25 years? They mean something, but now they've just handed it over to Escape From Bitch Mountain.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-29

I hear ya, buddy. I haven't followed wrasslin since the Attitude era, but I've seen a lot of CM Punk's work here on poeTV, and he's earned my respect.

The Rock? I didn't even like him when he was RELEVANT. Oh, the times I cried when he beat the Taker or Jericho because he was "popular" with the masses. And who can forget how big a dick he was to Mick Foley during the Rock and Sock era? I had no idea he was in the Royal Rumble, or that he had a movie coming out, but this sounds like exactly the sort of thing he'd do. Ruin a historic winning streak to promote some crappy film for jerks.

DavidBowiesLuckyTennisBall - 2013-01-29

I think the WWE is trying to destroy its titles forrrrr... who knows what reason? The World Heavyweight belt has changed hands in a 'first through the curtain' squash match lasting less than a minute. Now the WWE title has gone to a part-timer on the back of a hokey ending. Are any of the other belts even relevant anymore?

Toenails - 2013-01-29

@Cena: Is the Rock starting to get the kind of treatment in the WWE that Hogan got in the WCW? I don't know what sort of draw he still has, but I'm under the impression he can still pull pretty good numbers at the gate and on PPV.

If he can still bring crowds, then he should be able to hold the title until the next PPV event. I can't really tell, but it looks like Punk lost the belt on Raw, so if that's true, then why should dropping a belt on Cable matter? Almost always the wrestlers who lose their title on RAW or whatever eventually get it back.

P.S. Cena and all the other wrestling fans on the site: I recently read probably the best behind-the-scene look on how Bischoff, Nash, and Hogan wrecked the WCW.

http://bit.ly/VogW0x

I literally dropped three other books and finished this one in two days. It was super awesome for me because a large part of it was me going "Oh yeah, I remember watching that terrible match when it first came out!". Again, highly recommended.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

Toenails, I never thought of it that way. The possible similarity could be that when Hogan signed to WCW he had a clause for creative control over his character. So Hogan became more and more superhuman until the fans hated so much he decided to become heel. The Saving difference is that the Rock's time is temporary and that he'll most likely drop the Belt to John Cena at WM.
Punk dropped the belt on the Royal Rumble PPV, but the kid is mad about the finish. Having the Rock beat him with the People's Elbow is pretty weak.
I loved that book. I read it before I even became a Cena fan. I especially loved the story they had about Big Swoll from the No Limit Soldiers.

Toenails - 2013-01-29

Oh hell yeah, their non-wrestler guests were some of the worst. That in-depth on having Dennis Rodman "wrestle" had me in tears. Poor Karl Malone (and Dallas Page, but for many, many other reasons).

On Punk getting squashed on Royal Rumble (instead of what I assumed was RAW), yeah that's a pretty shitty way of losing a belt. Sorry about that, but hopefully he does a decent shoot on Dwayne.

glasseye - 2013-01-30

"Fighting for a title?"

Bro, it's fake. Really.

chumbucket - 2013-01-29

Should have had a V8.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2013-01-29

5 for the people above thinking this was real.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-29

You're so uber-skeptical and awesome... NOT! Its jerks like you who have to keep reminding us true believers how wrestling really works. OMG! I had no idea you were privy to such forbidden knowledge, please tell me more.

Toenails - 2013-01-29

I enjoyed Star Trek Voyager, but I threw my Chakotay action figure in the garbage disposal.

That was because liking something dumb and scripted was not cool.

Also because Chakotay had a stupid Mike Tyson tattoo.

The Townleybomb - 2013-01-29

Oh man, there is so much that is golden about this-- the seconds where he is clearly thinking about whether or not to knock over the pile of crap, the way he refers to pro wrestling as "we", the frustrated grunt at the end. All this needs is the "making an ass of yourself for all eternity" tag.

The Mothership - 2013-01-29

that man has grey hair.

subduralhematoma - 2013-01-29

and a unibrow...and a crustache...

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-29

I'm surprised the Rock didn't break his hip. What is he, pushing 50?

Rosebeekee - 2013-01-29

I knew what his room was going to look like before she even opened the door.

memedumpster - 2013-01-29

Needs "Mass Effect 3" tag.

paranex - 2013-01-29

Oh my god, part 2 is even better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eTHJijJb6c

memedumpster - 2013-01-29

My god.

The 19 year old this old man is dating is a thousand times more mature than he is.

Toenails - 2013-01-29

Hahahah oh man, that last part made my day.

chumbucket - 2013-01-29

"Why don't you just play with your wrestlers or something" my lord.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-29

Submit that STAT.

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2013-01-29

Daaaaaaamn, I thought that was his sister.

I was expecting him to have a large furry porn stash of Princess Sally melting in a bathtub like all of the other mental WWE fans I have seen on the internet.

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2013-01-29

*That was supposed to be a reply to paranex's comment.

SixDigitDebt - 2013-01-29

He's a wrestling fan. I'm surprised he's not more used to being made fun of.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-29

This is pretty much how they reacted at the premier of The Rite Of Spring.

Explodotron - 2013-01-29

This (Royal Rumble 2013) was the first wrestling I've watched since high school (1999-2000, Rock, Steve Austin, DX, etc etc). My wife's younger brother watches it religiously and I watched it with him on Sunday. Seeing some of the "surprise guests" like Godfather and Goldust brought back some fond memories. Not enough to get back into, but it was fun none-the-less.

I guess my point is that I can understand his reaction... doesn't make it right or likeable.

As far as playing with toys, I still get LEGO sets as gifts and am currently mashing together my LEGO Y-wing and TIE Fighter to make a Y-TIE Ugly.
