Pretty sure I spotted a Face Hugger in there.

memedumpster - 2013-02-27

My guess is it's a trilobite.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-27

Every boy in my 6th grade class should file a class action suit against this artist for stealing the name from them.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-27

Not to mention the guy who was doing this with platinum in the 60s to try to become the male Cynthia Plastercaster, at least according to Zappa's autobiography.

The Mothership - 2013-02-27

Pretty sure it's a heavily pierced labia

DriverStabby - 2013-02-27

I was gonna say heavily pierced labia :-(

Lef - 2013-02-28

Centipedes

lordyam - 2013-03-06

the mega clit/ mirco penis catty corner to it is what scares me

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-27

There's a British documentary on youtube about women getting plastic surgery for their labia. We used to be trapped in Puritanism, now we're trapped between Puritanism and porn, which is actually worse.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-27

A couple more generations and we might be somewhere in the ballpark of a healthy attitude toward sex, but right now we just turned 21 and it's party time.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-27

After centuries of being repressed it's to be expected, really.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-27

A few decades ago, people talked more freely about sex. There was sex education in schools, and specials on public tv about VD. They pretty much stopped that, but they couldn't stop porn, because it was commerce. They probably didn't want to.

I like jerking off as much as anybody, and more than some, but in the absence of the free flow of information and ideas, pornography is just more repression. Women and men being anxious about perfectly normal and functioning genitalia being unattractive is not a party.

The Mothership - 2013-02-27

It was called Designer Vaginas, and I remember seeing it air when I lived in the UK. It was amazing.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-27

Here's the link. It's not youtube, and it's now asking for a registration or something.

In absence of some kind of serious deformity or injury, I think pretty much all cosmetic surgery should require the kind of psychological screening that gender reassignment requires now.

Of course, I have veneers on a couple of teeth that were short, so I guess I'm a hypocrite.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-28

That level of screening is pretty extreme, but something should be available. Of course, plastic surgeons aren't about to push for that.

sjohnson301 - 2013-02-28

I watched that documentary last year. The whole time I was hoping to see the presenter's puss, but alas she never showed it. Disappoint.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-28

To change the course of the discussion a little bit, my problem with this exhibition and things like it is that it's basic premise is misguided and wrong. Not all vulvas (vulvae) ARE beautiful. Not all women are beautiful. Same with penises, men.
Are cultural standards of beauty unrealistic, artificial and harmful to individuals and society as a whole? Yes. Is there a massive gender double standard in how most (all?) societies today value beauty? Duh. Even if it were true, the whole "everyone is beautiful in their own way" thing plays right into that - it's still basing value on beauty, it has just redefined beauty. I guess an artist who takes the genuinely challenging position that perhaps we shouldn't assign value to people based on their beauty (no matter how we choose to define it) and rather based on the fact that they are people isn't marketable.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-28

JHM, screening shouldn't be available, it should be mandatory. In most cases cosmetic surgery is unnecessary and amounts to medically sanctioned anorexia or cutting. The stock "it's no different than tattooing or piercing" response completely ignores the social context.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-02-27

Art you can almost smell.

poorwill - 2013-02-27

'I like to make things that are different and experimental, pushing the boundaries of materials and taste'
No you fucking don't. 5 stars for banality.

Tripitaka - 2013-02-27

My vulva seems downright humdrum compared to some of these fine specimen.

DriverStabby - 2013-02-27

I'm sad about your body image.

Architeuthis Tux - 2013-02-27

Huh. Not much vagina in that wall of vagina.

Lotta vulvas though.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that horse is out of the stable, but if one has to be a pedant about *something* in life, it might as well be pudenda.

memedumpster - 2013-02-27

I think it was Bertrand Russel that said a pedant is merely someone who wants their opinions to reflect the truth.

Architeuthis Tux - 2013-02-27

If Volvo hadn't been aware of the potential confusion, they surely wouldn't have put male symbols on all their cars for clarity.

DriverStabby - 2013-02-27

That's a human labia, all right.

That guy - 2013-02-28

What's a wolunteer? Is she saying wall-unteer?

Pillager - 2013-02-28

Wow, I can see why Ridley Scott cut these scenes.

lordyam - 2013-03-06

".. its was very nice...' thanx grandma

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2019-02-27

I suppose this arts intended meaning is all about awareness of womens rights, how women are perceived and moulded by our society etc.

I think a better symbol for equality would be the anus.. The gross body part we all share!

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2019-02-27

Tho also I think vaginas should be more funny. Dicks are extremely hilarious, if we could make vaginas as funny that would be a big step.
That video with the fleshlight on the car exhaust is a great positive step forward imo.
