A thoroughly enjoyable movie.

"Oh, and we need a purge system."
"Makes sense. In an emergency we need to be able to eliminate all the monsters. I'll start working on it immediately."
"No, it should purge all the monsters into the facility."
"What? That makes no sense. Oh wait, I see. If we need to purge the facility we can use the monsters. Okay, I'll make sure it can only be activated with the Director's authority."
"No, put it right outside the elevators and allow the minimum wage guy who sits in the booth the ability to do it."
"I quit."

Binro the Heretic - 2013-03-10

You forget this is all happening in a parallel universe based on Hollywood movie logic.

There's probably also a big red button labelled "Self-Destruct" somewhere in there.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-03-10

This would never have happened at the SCP Foundation.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-03-10

That's why I loved this flick so much. It's probably as close as we'll ever get to an SCPF movie.

Tragically, I avoided it in the theater because the marketing campaign deliberately made it look like another generic backwoods slasher. Friends talked me into watching it on video.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-03-10

An even bigger disappointment is Warehouse 13. Its like the Foundation filtered through a sieve made of rejected Star Trek Voyager scripts and then given to whoever writes Blue's Clues.

pressed peanut sweepings - 2013-03-10

Mkay, watched clip, liked, just downloaded the movie. Thanks!

Explodotron - 2013-03-10

Ditto

Explodotron - 2013-03-10

Ooh, forgot me stars!

Father Avalanche - 2013-03-10

Talk about your spoilers.

Explodotron - 2013-03-11

To be honest, I had already read the TV Tropes page on the movie at work a few weeks back.

garcet71283 - 2013-03-10

If you view this movie through a Scooby-Doo filter...the brunette is Scooby.

poorwill - 2013-03-11

You know it's a Whedon joint because suddenly: ballet.

lamprey ballet

FABIO - 2013-03-11

I saw this shortly after Operation Endgame on Netflix Instant and swore that they copied the control room technician scenes from there, so much so that I checked to see if it was the same people.

Cherry Pop Culture - 2013-03-11

I can't have been the only one who didn't like this a whole lot. It was kinda mediocre to me actually :/. It's something I cannot put my finger on.

(Maybe my friends hyped it too much.)

FABIO - 2013-03-11

I liked this part and the "Japan channel", but otherwise I'm with you.

The thing is that it WAS a generic boilerplate horror movie for the first two acts. The only difference was interspacing it with cuts to a control room where technicians would point out the cliche like Jamie Kennedy in Scream. Good satire should do more than that and the Japan part managed to do it well with just a brief 2 second shot.

I just wished they did that for all the foreign channels. They could have riffed Italian horror's garish colors or Sweden's Bergman B&W monologues. Instead the Italian setup was an erupting volcano and Sweden's was a scene from John Carpenter's The Thing? huh?

This is definitely the best part of the movie and you could just watch it on its own. The only thing you'd miss is the conclusion of a minor running gag.

The New Meat - 2013-07-09

What Fabio said.

Part of the problem was also that this was, I assume, supposed to be a satire of horror movie cliches but apparently the film makers were only aware of ONE cliche and thought that was enough to build an entire film.

That guy - 2013-03-11

The elevator doors opening and a cornucopia of monsters comimg out might be one of the funniest short shots I've ever seen.

Also, roaring snake.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-03-11

Well I didn't want to see this movie before but...FUCK THAT WAS AWESOME.

Gmork - 2013-03-11

Wow I thought this was cabin fever. All I could think about were bloody vaginas.

I think i'm going to download this now, I stopped it while the lady was still monologuing so the only thing I really know now is there are monsters.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-14

Great movie. A few dumb things, but so many awesome things that it is okay.

The New Meat - 2013-07-09

Every Whedon fan in the world is howling in rage that you just gave away the SUPER SECRET ENDING.

But you've actually done a tremendous service since this is the only good bit in the entire mess. Not sure if I should 5 star for this scene or 1 star for the rest of this movie, but I'm going to go with 1 star because Joss Whedon.

The Mothership - 2014-10-24

This is the first scene I saw of this film, then read the synopsis, then fell in love, all without seeing the film.
