Well, there's nothing suprising here. Boxxy is all about cartoons. In fact, in my opinion, she IS a cartoon. Catie made the original Boxxy videos for her friends at Gaia Online, an, anime site where everyone communicates through an anime-inspired avatar, and it seems pretty obvious that the conceit of the original Boxxy involoved Catie playing the character of her avatar. For much of the past few years, the Boxxy makeup seems like an attempt to approximate anime eyes, though she may be taking it in another direction now.

She's also written about being obsessed with "PPG" (Power Puff Girls) as a child. It seems pretty obvious that she'd go for "My Little Pony".

The original Boxxy videos were amazing, lightning-in-a-bottle affairs. The more recent Boxxy videos are cute, but sort of awkward. The fans demand Boxxy, and the Boxxy videos are still getting views in the million. n my opnion the storytelling videos Catie makes as Catie on her non-Boxxy channel as anewhopeee are far more interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/user/ANewHopeee

Next month she turns 21. For almost two years, this young woman wanted the internet to forget all about her, so if she's trying to get our attention now... well, I think that's wonderful!

poorwill - 2013-03-23

So we have Bronies ... but what do we call people like JHM here who are obsessed with Boxxy? Broxxies?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

I consider myself a Boxxologist. (It's not a religion; it's an academic discipline.)

Cena_mark - 2013-03-23

Wonderful. Now we have truly powerful ally on our side.

Cena_mark - 2013-03-23

I don't see why she was in the stable for so long. She's a little girl and there is nothing wrong with her watching it.
Oh and of course she's a Pinkie Pie fan. Boxxy is hyper and random just like her.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

So is that a thing? Do Bronies go around talking about being "in the stable"?

EvilHomer - 2013-03-23

Dude, she's like thirty now. She's not a little girl anymore.

And I doubt she was ever in the stable. She's just saying that as part of her act, to up the drama, and make it look like it's some Big Reveal that we should care about cuz it's a secret or something. Kinda like Ricky Martin coming out of the closet. It's a celebrity attention thing, not a sudden, painful disclosure of heretofore unknown fact.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

She's 21. And I don't think it's meant to be dramatic. I mean, is it?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-03-23

If that's not dramatic, and its how she acts 24/7, I don't think I could be around her for a week before there was an extra mound of dirt in my back yard where the grass would grow ever so well for the next few years.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

It's not even how she acts on most of her videos. I meant that it's not dramatic to reveal that she likes MLP.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-23

It depends on how you want to use the term "dramatic". Again, think Ricky Martin. If you stop to analyze what's actually being said, then no, it's actually pretty dull. A girl likes a popular horse show, huh, so what? But it's MEANT to be dramatic. Coming out of the stable is part of an act - it's being presented to an audience, in a dramatic way, by a dramatic character, so a fading celebrity can enjoy a few more moments in the spotlight.

What Boxxy SHOULD be doing is hanging out with Kim Jong Un. That'd get us talking about her, and it would be legitimately interesting.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-23

As the Queen of the Internet, you can imagine the sort power Kim Jong Un would command if she ever fell into his clutches.

Toenails - 2013-03-23

It's like... just when you think Cena isn't capable of trolling anymore...

For you brother.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

Is Homer trolling? I can't tell. Catie's not

Her fifteen minutes are almost up? For four years, we've been hearing that every fifteen minutes. But we're not llving in Andy Warhol's 1968 future anymore. That future was over 20 years ago. In this future, everybody's famous forever, though some are more famous forever. The internet isn't like the old analog media that turns over every week. It holds onto everything. It doesn't forget.

All that 4chan hysteria has died down, but I think she's okay with that. I'm sure she's made her peace with not being photoshopped into bulkkake porn all the time, but based on the traffic on her her youtube views slowly gradually increase. More people are watching Boxxy videos now than in 2009. It's a documented fact. They're not on 4chan. But ironically, 4chan's 15 minutes may be up.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

To e more accurate, as of six months ago, more people were watching Boxxy's most popular video on an average day than for an overall average of the whole four years since that video had been posted. Based on youtube statistics.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-24

Wow, I hope you know how creepy that sounds.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-24

The magic is gone, though. You said it yourself: people are watching "her most popular video". They watch the classic stuff. Not the new stuff. She's Mark Hamill, and I think she knows that, which is why, here, she's falling back on the one formula she knows works(worked), and is trying to make it relevant to modern audiences by including some topical references to MLP.

I'm not trying to be mean to Boxxy. There's nothing wrong with what she's doing. And I think you probably agree with me: all I'm saying is, it's an act. Isn't it? And that the whole "ZOMG u gais Boxxy is coming out the stable" thing is part of that act (assuming Catie isn't a Fauxny, I'm sure she's been perfectly open about her MLP-watching habits in her "real" life).

EvilHomer - 2013-03-24

I mean, look at Cena. Cena's brony arc was BRILLIANT. It had some real drama, some real conflict, this wonderful dynamic character development and this roiling homoerotic subtext that was perfectly balanced between the subtle and the obvious. And when he finally broke, it was glorious, because we *cared* about our hero, and we cared about the choices he made. We felt the weight of the journey he had taken. It was like a Jane Austen novel, a really really gay Jane Austen novel, about ponies. I only wish more people could have experienced it.

And then we got Boxxy. Girl turns on her camera, says she likes ponies. THE END. Yaaaawwwwwn, am I right?

RocketBlender - 2013-03-24

Holy shit guys. I posted this here because I was under the impression she was resurfacing and trying to draw more attention to herself by cashing in on the brony thing. I had no idea some of you guys actually follow her.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

You guys obviuously don't know anything. Boxxy resurfaced in 2011. "A dramatic reveal" is exactly the opposite of what Catie would do. The ums, likes and sos are part of the character, and when she doesn't do Boxxy, she doesn't use them. Boxxy is what she's known for, and Boxxy is kind of used up, but she's so much more than Boxxy.

You guys obviously don't know anything about this, and since you're obviously not interested, thjere's no reason why you should have to knoiw anything about this, and no reason why I should try to explain anything, or try to convince you of anything. We all have better things to do.

Suedeo - 2013-03-24

Don't know anything about this, check!
Not particularly interested, check!
No reason for you to try to explain anything further, check!

Liftoff!

moldprince - 2013-03-24

All my stars for Suedeo.

Also, this lurker's weekend was an emotional whirlwind, thanks to the poe outage.

Don't leave me again, Poe. You're simply the best.

Cena_mark - 2013-03-24

This is actually the first time I heard the expression "Coming out of the stable." Frankly its a brilliant terminology.
She's not really "cashing in" per say to get attention. She enjoys the show and has given some good descriptions of the characters. Applejack should be higher up her list, but she's not too bright.
Everything she does is for attention, right? I don't keep up with her, but she has to come up with shit to talk about to appease her fans. Why not talk about the brony thing. She's a little late, but as I said, she isn't very bright.

I loved the brony arc too. It was a play of my internal conflicts broken down to something as petty as a cartoon. I went through the "Why the fuck am I watching this?" phase to acceptance. Now I share the role of MLP expert with Caminante. Even though his favorite pony is that prissy, fussy, biatch Rarity.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-24

OH HEY HI GUYS!

...

Jesus fucking Christ... :(

EvilHomer - 2013-03-24

My favorite pony is my OC, LunaCiel von PWNY. She's a hardcore gamer pony from Japan with a swastika cutie mark and colors like Rainbow Dash, only more goth, and she's best friends with Goku from Dragonball Z. Also she's a ninja.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

standard non-argument. Are you saying that some part of this is untrue? Are you saying anything at all?

weak weak weakity weak

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

Jet Bin Fever
Wow, I hope you know how creepy that sounds.

"Creepy" ain't shit. It's an aesthetic value.

I think it's sort of creepy that you think I'm supposed to care what you think is creepy. Do you care? For your sake, I hope the answer is "No".

I really do have better things to do. My friend is waiting in the car while I type this shit.

memedumpster - 2013-03-24

Wow, I saw this thread and I thought I'd accidentally missed a gun control video!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

Yep. People lose their minds, even while telling you how bored they are.

>>And then we got Boxxy. Girl turns on her camera, says she likes ponies. THE END. Yaaaawwwwwn, am I right?

I dunno Homer. Why are you here?

The original Boxxy videos, the ones that started the 4Chan Civil War, the ones that got her youtube account hacked and Anonymous organizing field trips to her house, they were never "about" much of anything.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

The essential thing to understand about Catie Wayne is that organized vigilante forces on the internet tried to suppress her, and she overcame that.

Her videos are an acquired taste. I didn't like them at first. It's not hard to understand why someone else doesn't like them. I could tell you why I like them (maybe not THIS one so much) if you're interested, but if you're not, I don't need to bore you. I don't care if you don't like them. If you care about me liking them, I can't imagine why.

But we should all care that organized vigilante forces tried to suppress her, and she overcame that. She never sought this attention . She made a couple of videos for a couple of friends, and then forgot about it. For a year, no one noticed, and then... Try to imagine being a sixteen year old girl and hundreds, maybe thousands of anonymous internet faggots are writing rape porn about you and leaving creepy tokens on your doorstep. Rape threats were left in her youtube comments maybe ten times a day. You don't know who they are or how many of them there are. She was bullied at school. And so much more, on and on.

Here's something that Catie herself posted that she found somewhere on the internets. It's a cartoon, in which she's killed by being shot in the face, and her corpse is raped in the eyesocket. I'm not kidding.

http://tinyurl.com/altfn9c

And she came back. And a bunch of faggots went crazy. But now, it's all pretty normal.

You have every right to not like her video. I promise you, if she was here, she'd be okay with that.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-24

I really want Boxxy to make some gun rights vids.

Would she be pro or anti 2nd Amendment, do you think? Follow up question: would she be willing to shoot some stuff while wearing a bikini?

EvilHomer - 2013-03-24

Oh, and Mr Holmes:

" I could tell you why I like them (maybe not THIS one so much) if you're interested, but if you're not, I don't need to bore you."

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd be interested. Stuff like this is what makes poe so much fun, so if you'd like to explain, go for it!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-24

I think you're amusing yourself far beyond my poor power to add or detract.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-25

Awww, I'm serious. :(

I'm not making fun of you, if that's what you're worried about. I don't think you're creepy - well, OK, I won't lie to you, I do think you're a LITTLE creepy, because come on. But so what? I don't mind. I don't hate you for being weird. Isn't the daily barrage of weirdness what makes poe so much fun?

If you don't feel comfortable explaining your interest in Boxxy, then I won't press the matter. But it's clearly an issue that you've given great thought to, and I think you'd be able to offer up some really interesting insights.

RocketBlender - 2013-03-25

Holy. Shit. Guys.

poorwill - 2013-03-25

lol

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-25

FUCKING CHRIST STOP IT YOU'RE JUST SHITTING ALL OVER THE WALLS NOW!

Old_Zircon - 2013-03-23

Wow, this performance is really awkward and forced and the 20 seconds of it I watched lacked any of the charm the originals could have been argued to have.

5 stars!

Needs "attention seekers" tag.

Mother_Puncher - 2013-03-24

Yeah she's coming back after no longer being relevant anymore and grabbing for attention so hard its awkward and hard to watch

RocketBlender - 2013-03-25

Thank you. That's the reaction I was looking for.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-23

xXTenderTacosXx 2 hours ago

"I want to cum inside Rainbow Dash" is also a meme within the fandom. It doesn't necessarily mean the person who uses it actually wants to. I'm also not saying we need to discriminate those who do mean it, but for future reference, don't use "cuminsiderainbowdash" to label someone as a sick fuck.

StanleyPain - 2013-03-23

I guess this is 5 for evil. I kinda thought she was moving past this kind of bullshit and it's kind of really sad to see her going back into the Boxxy shit. especially with an MLP meme thing.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

Evil? Really? I thibk that's

She's doing a lot of other things. Yesterday I went to her channel. I hadn't been there for a few weeks, and there's a whole lot of stuff I haven't seen before, including a couple of videos with Pocky. She's releasing a lot of videos right now. It may be that she needs money, which is something that happens to everybody. The Boxxy videos still get 10 times the traffic of her other stuff, even though her other stuff is getting better all the time, and the Boxxy, not so much.

Honestly, I have a hard time getting through this, but I had a hard time getting though the first Boxxy video I saw. So who knows. She's done a really good job so far of not beating Boxxy to death, releasing just two Boxxy videos a year for 2011 and 2012, but if she finally does kill Boxxy, well, so be it. She's extremely talented, and I'd hate to see her doing this when she's 35.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-03-23

Meant to say I think that's overstating it a bit.

BHWW - 2013-03-23

Um, hello, the proper term would be a "pegasister", check your hateriarachal, cissexist privilege.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-24

Count the "umm"s, "like"s and "so"s... if you DARE. Sorry John Holmes Mofo, I really don't like her at all. I know a lot of girls that are far more interesting than her. But, I bet a lot of us do.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-24

Also her spelling really sucks!

Riskbreaker - 2013-03-24

Yawn

DriverStabby - 2013-03-27
