Aelric - 2013-03-26
Oh christ. I have spent some time watching the train wreck that is this website. There are a few, FEW ok critics (spoony, cinema snob) but for the most part it's a clusterfuck of sadness and shit.

Aelric - 2013-03-26 Phantasmagoria 2 Let's Play respectfully disagrees. Regardless, we ca both agree that this is drek.
|
Spaceman Africa - 2013-03-26 Yeah that one is ok, but the guy's been a shell of a man since then. His article on ED is pretty good at explaining it.

|
BHWW - 2013-03-26 I'm OK with one project the Cinema Snob was involved with, the Ninja The Mission Force webseries which was a not unamusing parody of low-rent cut'n'paste action movies, mainly Godfrey Ho films.
"What are ninjas?"
"Just a fairy tale, they don't exist."
|
Quad9Damage - 2013-03-26 Cinema Snob's review of Debbie Does Dallas was amusing. I wasn't even aware he'd done that until I browsed his site earlier.
|
klingerbgoode - 2013-03-27 Fuck Spoony. I checked out one video of him playing Police Quest Swat in which he just used lines of dialogue from David Fincher's Seven, as if they applied to playing a fucking video game alone on youtube.
|
klingerbgoode - 2013-03-27 i haven't seen his Phantasmagoria 2, but I ask you this: is it spoony who's funny, or is it just Phantasmagoria 2?
Because I had Phantasmagoria 2 and it was a laugh riot.
|
Quad9Damage - 2013-03-27 Bless Spoony. He got up and did a review of "ET" for the Atari 2600 while recovering from agonizing oral surgery.

Unfunny Youtube Nerd Critics Pandering to Nerds: The Motion Picture
of course a lot of the TvTropes crowd thinks this guy is a hoot.
|
TheSupafly - 2013-03-26 Pandering to their pocketbooks. These yearly movies are made to swap fanbases to get higher viewcounts for all, all which doug gets a cut of. Sure there is a great deal of ego in it, but I doubt the fans of sarcastic internet reviewers ever wanted to see any of these people try their hand at acting.
|
Spaceman Africa - 2013-03-26
A perfect example of why most "internet reviewers" should not cross into any other medium, ever.
Stars for this ego-fueled, fan-funded circlejerk catastrophe.

Pope Caius - 2013-03-26
The IMDB page is also a great source of entertainment.

Okay, I'm a giant fucking nerd but this stuff still makes me want to punch everyone.
Vloggers, online personalities, etc., have basically replaced improv as the next pyramid scheme of comedy - a couple of capable people and the rest are the socially broken who think this is the chance for their "wacky" (read: asshole) personalities to come through to entertain the masses. Like any pyramid scheme, there's a handful of people with a legitimate base and legit money from it as well, and the rest have 60 subscribers because they in turn subscribe to those 60 people, all the while hoping their subscribing and commenting and sucking up to the big names will get their name in lights too.
The entire scene is like they're all LARPing as interesting people, and most of them are doing a pathetic job, but everyone else has to play along as well or else everyone has to admit how dumb 99% of them look.
Oh, and "you recognize this" is not a punchline, for fuck's sake.
Five stars for being able to go to any part of the video and being to embarrassed to watch.

Rosebeekee - 2013-03-26
Nostalgia Chick and her crew are the only redeeming people on that website and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.
|
Quad9Damage - 2013-03-26 Lindsay/Nostalgia Chick is successful at being innovative. Most movie reviews on the site are bit by bit breakdowns of films. I like how she looks at the overall picture and themes instead.
|
Pope Caius - 2013-03-27 Her fanbase is creepy as hell though
|
Quad9Damage - 2013-03-27 Oh, they are, if the TGwTG comments are any indicator. Page after page of variations of "You're sooo hot!" And then there are the MRA-ish shitheads who criticize her for claiming to be a feminist but showing too much cleavage...and nine layers of hell below THEM, whatever guy it was who drew the Rule 34 art of her eviscerated.
|
Pope Caius - 2013-03-28 The worst part is that Doug Walker is very aware of it, and chose to exploit it with fanservice. Just see the Moulin Rouge review.
