Animations and gaphics look terrible. I guess it'll still find a following though, just because of the name. I'm glad I stopped caring about turtles somewhere around 1990.
Those horrifying "realistic" turtle models make me worry that they're going to attempt a serious, dark and gritty story with this game.
Fuck that. If you're not going to go crazy-campy with your Turtles plot, then your game should not have a story more complex than, "DON'T LET THE FOOT CLAN DESTROY THE DAM. YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT."
That's why the first few seasons of the original cartoon were good (they managed to retain some of the satirical aspects of the comic) and nothing done with the franchise since then has been worth a shit. They actually managed to take something that was basically a TV commercial and bring at least a bit of self awareness to it, at a time when that wasn't yet completely mainstream on TV.
It would be cool if the art director on one of these TMNT games took a risk and tried to go with an old school Mirage Studios art direction. Cell shaded and B/W with models that follow the style sheet of the later look of that comic book's run. If you're gonna insist on "gritty" and avoid the cartoon zaniness, go to the source.
I do have a soft spot for the stupidity some of the later seasons after they'd fired the original staff and run out of ideas but before they'd abandoned the original look. There's one where they go to Paris but by pure coincidence Shredder is also in Paris and he has a plot to magnetize the Eifel Tower.
Are we seriously going to entertain the idea of a 5 foot something turtle with colorful bandannas as inconspicuous or stealthy? I thought they lived in the sewers and had pizza delivered because they stood out.
