When it comes to murder and fundamental racial hatred, yes, I don't care if one side of the scale has a ton of hate, white skin and a hood, and the other has a ton of hate, black skin and a gloved fist. I don't care if the hood or the glove weighs more on top of a ton of hate. I don't care who started it, what the score is, or who's the underclass and who's the overclass when it comes to bombing and shooting and hanging for mere racial hatred.

What I think is inevitable and what I think is justified are two different things.

I do not share your building-a-cultural-religion views that black rage or 'nigger' are sacred or profane things. I'm not on campus, and I'm not a politician. A long story is an uphill story in metaphysics, ethics, cultural studies, theology, what-have-you. You have a long story to tell and I'm not in your audience.

I think that black militancy was inevitable, and maybe Ali's shitty thoughts were inevitable after his childhood that I admit I can't imagine. I am not sure how many people can. That doesn't mean there's a free pass for murder and ignorant shit, even if it's inevitable in a time and place because of other, heavier, more systematic, more brutal murder and ignorant shit.

Not every violent act of black militancy in that era was targeted on a vicious racist, some of it was just killin' whitey. Not everything that came out of those leaders mouths was any better than some of the shit that came out of Klanners' mouths.

I do take sides when it comes to the oppressed versus oppressors. I don't think there's a tension between my hatred for slavery and my hatred for race-murder, not even an extensionless point of tension. I don't think a long, special story about me being white and our country's history can create a tension there, if you got a third of the cultural studies PhDs in America to tell it. [I say a third, because I hope there's no way the other two-thirds would go for that story].
