The second hand embarrassment. It burns.
On a lighter note, as much as I had to admit it, I am kind of impressed how this game really looks like you're actually playing a cartoon/hand drawn animation. I was impressed by how close Rayman: Origins came, but this about hits the nail on the head. Too bad the animation, unlike Rayman: Origins, isn't very good, and it's MAI WAIFU: THE GAME said visuals are being used in.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-07-14 Having two souls is a disability.
I didn't realize it was a disability that turned me on until I saw this, though.
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 It says right in there, she's got a bad case if two souls. How more disabled can you get?
|
Old_Zircon - 2013-07-13
So this is one of those Sega CD interactive comic book style games but with higher quality artwork and combat that looks like King Of Fighters 3 with a lower frame rate? I don't get it.

Anita seems to do just fine using rocks, sand, wet garbage, or thin air as ammo.
"Repeat your wedding day over and over again."
So you play a girl trying to STOP this? Sounds like a dream come true.

Namco Bandai, Square, Capcom...they all suck.
|
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 I don't care what any of you say, Capcom is still a fun company, and I loved the new DMC, especially the Bill O'Riley boss fight.

Check it out.
Right off the bat.
Huh, Chief?
Main squeeze.
Bad case of dual souls.
You get all that?
Beautiful garden of choices.
You hear me?
Am I right?
Please tell me they just directly translated all of that from a Japanese script without realizing how utterly stupid it sounded in English. Not even the empty shells in America we call "marketing majors" would write something that sounded even more inhuman than a Viagra spam e-mail.
|
SolRo - 2013-07-13 I haven't run into any Japanese writing that terrible, unless the translators/fansubers are REALLY generous and self-aware.
|
zerdzer - 2013-07-14 it was intentionally written that way to sound like that. that's how it goes.
look, a person of low culture like you could never appreciate a high taste game such as this. ;)
|
EvilHomer - 2013-07-14 It's intentional. I've bitched at length about this problem on various GameCenter CX fan pages - it's what ruined the RGM localization project - and I've probably ranted about it here. Rest assured, they know exactly what they're doing.
Basically, there's this horrible, horrible corner of American marketing that's decided, when Americans see something that's obviously from Japan, they want to hear it narrated to them in the most obnoxious, faux-melodramatic, and intentionally awkward manner possible. I guess it's supposed to remind us of a really bad Shaw Brothers dub, and hey, it worked for Most Extreme Elimination, so why wouldn't it work for Hurf Durf Durf? In fairness, it does sometimes work on casual Japanophiles, idiots, and small children, but I'd have a hard time imagining even fans of G4 and Spike TV getting behind this particular trailer.
|
Potrod - 2013-07-14 G4, to their credit, broadcast Ninja Warrior/Sasuke with just subtitles for the original Japanese announcer.

If this is going to piss off Anita i will gladly buy four copies of this game.

Nikon - 2013-07-14
I was really looking forward to playing this game until
several reviews pointed out that it's repetitive and not fun.
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 That's how I found this thing. When I first heard of it, I was hoping it was going to be something like Namco's 'tales' series. I lost a lot of that faith when I saw the NIS logo, then the rest of it upon hitting play.
At least Tales of Xillia is right around the corner.
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 Shin megami Tensei IV as well, now that I think about it. I'm pretty well set.
|
William Topaz McGonagall - 2013-07-14 To be fair Nikon, you should have seen that coming given that the trailer literally tells you that you'll be repeating the same things over and over again.
|
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 I really enjoyed Disgaea, but I really can't think of anything else I've played from them that lived up to the hype, I hate to say it.
|
Old_Zircon - 2013-07-14
I watched some of this again and I still say it looks like a Sega CD game with slightly updated graphics.
|
RocketBlender - 2013-07-14 The 5 seconds of gameplay honestly looks terrible.
I /think/ 1:30-1:34 is the movement system, and it looks like they tried to combine old school roguelike games, Resident Evil, and anime, and failed horribly at it...
|
Jet Bin Fever - 2013-07-15
It'll probably still make tons of money off of the lonely shut-ins it is targeting.
