There was an Arthur C Clarke novel that talked a bit how a restoration of the original Titanic film had cigarettes and smoking removed from the original digitally.

Needs more droids.

hopefully they've applied the same care to the preservation of Armageddon

CC movies are expensive but I have to say they do an excellent job restoring them and making them overall look less awful.

pretty sure they are using the tool developed by Foundry to do these things.
