I liked FTL Bill better.

baleen - 2013-08-19

FTL Bill is eternal. FTL Bill can never be caught.

What is interesting to me about this, in addition to the actual delusion, is that he's structured the narrative, the narration, and the editing exactly like one of many Unsolved Mysteries\Paranormal Stories kinds of TV shows. I imagine these shows fuel this kind of stuff among the schizos and the very gullible.

Also, I'd never seen any of Shaver's paintings influenced by "rock books" until googling them after watching this. Amazing stuff. Thank you for submitting this.

The whole "Weird tales meets Bible study" vibe is what blew me away.

EvilHomer - 2013-08-19

He's high-functioning insane.

EnochEmery - 2013-08-19

I'm not sure if he's crazy or if he was just on a Texas Holiday (meth and Jack Daniels)

The whole Shaver Mystery fascinated me, and I recently borrowed a copy of a new book on the subject from a friend, entitled War Over Lemuria by Richard Toronto, covering both the history of Richard Shaver and "Amazing Stories" magazine editor Ray Palmer, who published and promoted Shaver's accounts of the subterranean "Deros". The Deros were the degenerate descendants of an advanced race that had been forced to move underground due to their increasingly bad reactions to the Sun's radiation.

The Deroes caused all sorts of calamities on the Earth's surface just for fun, when they weren't abducting humans to eat or torture just for fun, or going off in spacecraft to meet up with equally eeeeeevil aliens, and kept Shaver captive for several years, again, just for fun which is how he knew about them, that and the voices that were being beamed into his mind.

Touched by a Krankor.

Spike Jonez - 2013-08-19

Show us on the Dero where Krankor touched you!

Ugh, I hated Derros. The little buggers would attack from ambush and then I'd have to crawl into their tunnels after them. Killed my favourite fighter, dammit! Had to play a lousy thief the rest of the campaign.

pressed peanut sweepings - 2013-08-20

His drawings of the dero are terrifying to me.

I love hollow earth stuff, it's my favorite nutjobbery.

kamlem - 2013-08-20

He will reply to any reasonable questions about the inhabitants of the hollow earth.
