Stupid Head!
Seriously though, how the hell is this game played? Even the battles seem like nothing but bad cutscenes.

Riskbreaker - 2013-09-02 The franchise is a dating sim with tactical rpg battles. The combat is quite fluid actually, and pretty damn solid. If you can enjoy dating sim wackiness you will enjoy this game, which is the only Sakura Wars title that got released in the west.

Nominal - 2013-09-02 A dating sim with no hentai? FUCK THAT SHIT!
|
RocketBlender - 2013-09-02 Are we talking like Valkyria Chronicles? Because that series is the best thing ever.

klingerbgoode - 2013-09-02 I actually really like this game, but the Hamlet scene made me lose it!

Some of the game mechanics are similar to VALKRYIA CHRONICLES, but VC is much more of a battlefield-oriented game than SAKURA WARS, where the battlefield is only the climax of each "episode" within the game.

Shakespeare strikes me as the sort of person who would have loved anime, had he actually been a real person.

This game is notable for two reasons. It was last major release for the PS2 in North America and it seemed like it would never see a release overseas. I thought none of the Sakura Wars games, like the ones about beetle collecting and pachinko, would never be released outside of Japan just because they are so... Japanesey.
I bought this for my Wii. The combat is ridiculously easy andyou have to do repeat playthroughs if you want all the endings with the different girls. The girls you have to "date" run the anime stereotype gambit. The Texan chick is a classic bimbo, the black lawyer chick is the tsundere/Jekyl & Hyde bitch personality, and the 10 year old Mexican girl for the obvious reason.
On a side note, the Wii version was plagued with bugs and the hardware could hardly process the game during the more demanding boss battles.

klingerbgoode - 2013-09-02 The black lady, Cheiron, is particularly hilarious.
A black female lawyer in 1920s New York City, who comes from Harlem and loves fried chicken and jazz.
OH JAPAN.

RocketBlender - 2013-09-02 You guys are making this sound delightfully ridiculous.

This game is a wad. +1 star for the retarded giant realistic handheld shotgun that attaches to the power ranger arm module.
