And then Bert was a zombie.

I like (old) Sesame Street so much more now than I did as a little kid. I'd watch it, but I remember it was always disappointing compared to The Muppet Show.
I found Bert and Ernie and Big Bird annoying, and never understood why there were live people in it. This was the 80s though, so I think they'd already started pulling the best stuff off the air.

I've often wondered if Jim Henson and Frank Oz ever ad libbed Bert and Ernie saying horrible things to each other off camera. It would have been funny to see that.

"no accounting for taste"
Bert is a douchebag.

They fled, but the curse followed them to Seasame Street - soon unusally large scarabs and asps were appearing all over the neighborhood and the sky right over the street turned dark even as the rest of the sky over NYC remained clear.

Nikon - 2013-09-03 Those things coalesced to form Elmo.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2013-09-03 Elmo is most likely possessed. He was initially Baby Monster; once Kevin Clash controlled Elmo, THAT'S when the evil burst forth from its felt tomb.

I dunno why, maybe it's just that they probably removed the tuft of hair to put Burt's hat on, but Burt's head looks oddly misshapen in this sketch.
Also, this is not the only piece of SESAME STREET "nightmare fuel" to feature ancient Egyptian spirits: http://youtu.be/3c5-MwrAKOo?t=3m40s

sasazuka - 2013-09-04 Submitted the SESAME STREET "Don't Eat the Pictures" Metropolitan Museum of Art special Big Bird vs. Egyptian demon clip, if anyone wants to vote on it.

sasazuka - 2013-09-04 Also, yes, I know it's "Bert" not "Burt". 4am typo, sorry.

This scared the SHIT out of me, and also made sure that I would be a historian.
