The CGI for A New Hope was done just a year or two later.

Also, this probably took weeks to render and was filmed directly off of a monitor.

Oh man, I loved that show. I wish they'd sort of remake it with a similar plot and characters, but with a new continuity and a fresh interpretation. Like, some sort of... can't think of the word.

Anyway, it's best to keep in mind that computers in those days had less power than a Blu-ray player and because there was no mouse or graphics, all the models were typed in to a terminal with green text.
