It's so weird to me, as a hockey fan, that there was a time when the American zeitgeist knew a hockey player by name, by what he looks like, what team he plays for, and what number he wears. There is absolutely nothing even approaching that now. The two live TV things I watch these days are hockey and pro wrestling, and John Cena has far more cultural relevance than Sidney Crosby.
