So let me get this straight: These people think certain sounds give them orgasms in their scalps, and therefore they're special?
Whatever happened to "liking the sound of something?"

Old_Zircon - 2013-12-19 Also the effects they describe seem pretty unremarkable and mild compared to what happens when you listen to Steve Reich records on a good hifi.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19 Wait. Your mention of records has caused a hypothesis to occur to me:
Could this be an extension of the thrill some people get when they like obscure music? It seems akin to liking a band nobody's ever heard of. The fact that it's not a band and nobody will ever really hear of it gives the sufferer a jolt of superiority far beyond that of recorded music, as liking said music carries the risk that it'll someday become mainstream.

I like to relax to the sounds of a 9 year old boy rambling after huffing glue.

Syd Midnight - 2013-12-19 I am just happy that there remains a venue for young kids to make stupid rambling recordings that they can enjoy in 10 years when they're drunk with their friends, now that cassettes are consigned to history.

My voting on this had nothing to do with ASMR
