He makes a music video about his looks and deletes an old one every month.

Obviously a lot of trauma there.
I feel bad for the dude and hope he finds the will to live.

Body dismorphic disorder.

Life's life.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-01-04

So when does the ugly guy show up?

memedumpster - 2014-01-04

Sorry I'm late!

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-01-04

Poor guy.

Was going to go on a rant about the mental illness tumblrati, but I guess I can empathize, he doesn't seem particularly self-centered. It's kind of like those girls who killed themselves, after making those videos about the horrible stuff that was happening to them, you have to take stuff seriously. Hopefully he'll realize that he's not actually ugly, and beyond that, the pressure he feels to look a certain way stems directly from bs about how everyone should look. He almost got it right at the end, life is living with people, and people who live life aren't living by superficial standards. The ones that are, aren't worth any thought beyond a goodbye wave.

Well, he is ugly. His is deeply insecure. He feels ugly. He does not fill his own skin with confidence of any stripe. His body language is contorted and tense. There is no doubt that he's been on the receiving end of awfulness. A person with any sensitivity cannot function in this world with that hand in life.
I hope that he is able to get out of it by realizing his beauty through one of his passions, if he has any. That could be part of the problem, he doesn't.

As a long-time subscriber of his channel, he is still quite an enigma to me. He usually posts videos of his family and friends and doing trick shots with his hockey stick - which people have genuine adoration for. Then he stops posting and goes on a week-long bender where he posts videos about his looks, always with the same format: music, childhood flashbacks, long stares at the camera. He somehow goes from self-image issues to downright narcissism with some of them. He reposts them three of four times until he gets the right mix, then he deletes the old "ugly" videos and goes back to hockey shots.

I have a hard time finding empathy. Not because he's unworthy of empathy, it's just that I can't understand it. I have the same issue watching Hoarders. When the old lady won't throw away a broken, plastic 7-Eleven cup, it just cracks me up. I can't understand it at all.

If you've ever spent time with people who have muscular dystrophy or are afflicted with something that really does change their body significantly, it's hard to wrap your head around why some kid who needs to comb his hair and try to smile more is having such difficulties. Again, I do believe he's really suffering, it's just hard for me to understand it.

@ Baleen you're right, he does feel ugly and that in turn becomes his reality, but a lot of that comes from a misunderstanding of the subject of beauty. If he spent some time on that, he'd learn a lot more about how those conceptions are faulty, and how it applies to the world around him. While it might not make him feel handsome, it could at least mitigate that problem a bit, don't you think?

@ Enjoy That comparison was pretty much my initial thought as well, but then I realized that's kind of like saying, if you think America is bad you should be deported to work in Brazil for a year. Not saying that as some backhanded knock against your humanity, just trying to assert that a problem is a problem. Even if we don't necessarily understand it, we should try to, because ignoring or deriding it won't make it go away. The hoarder thing is different, largely because that's a want, where this is clearly not. I dunno if I could empathize with an unapologetic coprophiliac either, but if that's something they want to change, I can at least try. The need to feel understood and cared for is in all of us, if you can acknowledge that, you can easily empathize with another person.

Sorry...that turned into a Care Bear stare. I'm gonna try real hard not to comment on anything like this again since it always results in this :\

As much as I feel bad for this guy, you have to admit he IS pretty homely.

Old_Zircon - 2014-01-05

Not nearly to the point he thinks he is of course, but he's definitely on the Ron Perlman side of average.

Old_Zircon - 2014-01-05

I'd say he's about on the level of John Doe from X or Tom Waits, kind of goofy looking but he could make it work with a little cleaning up and years of therapy.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2014-01-05

Uh, doesn't look like anything retinoids, a better barber, and talk therapy couldn't fix.
