Coming in hot, bitches, duck.
I know it's probably a bit of an optical illusion because of the angle, but it honestly does look that the undercarriage only clears the signs at the end of the runway by a metre or so. If there had been a tailstrike, the guys on the car would have been killed. Also, that plane seems to touch down on the threshold, before the official start of the runway
Skiathos seems to be more ridiculous than even St. Maarten. At St. Maarten, the planes get low over the beach, but St. Maarten still has a proper fence at the end of the runway. Skiathos has planes coming in so low, it would seem they can't even put up a fence; there's just a guardrail and a string of barbed wire separating the road from the field.
Skiathos seems like a place I want to visit. I'd love to go to an "airport beach" but the problem with St. Maarten is that is seems that there's not much else to do there besides sit on the beach, and I'm just not interested in beach vacations other than "jet blast beaches", while Skiathos is in Greece, which has plenty of other points of interest.
Yeah, this was a pretty short landing. Happens more often than you'd think though, my dad was an airport firefighter at Denver International and there was a few times guys landed so short they clip the lights off the beginning part of the runway (and this was in Denver, home of the waaaay too long runways, one of which could technically handle a space shuttle landing). What's worse if they didn't jack up their tires and end up being disabled they usually wouldn't mention it to the tower till the next plane taxis around and freaks out over all the debris all over the runway. Another common asshole pilot thing is they'd land so hard panels on the tail area of the plane would drop off, and silently left for the next guy to find.

What's the deal with letting civilians be so close to landing strips? Given that any person who's FLYING has to go through some form of TSA (which is a lot stricter in other countries than it is in the US) it seems like someone who can potentially be feet from the plane could do something like shoot a raygun out of a James Bond movie to fuck up the navigation system or something.
Also that better be a fucking mirage at the end of that landing strip, or I'm walking to Skiathos
Looking at the runway on Google Maps, it would seem like they didn't have a lot of wiggle room where to put the runway on the island, so, no matter where it went, it would be close to people, and this end of the runway is right next to a road that connects to another part of the island via an isthmus, so they couldn't just close the road.
If it was a richer area, they'd probably have built a tunnel so that there wouldn't be unfettered access to the runway via simply stepping over the barbed wire, but they probably couldn't afford to do that.
Land is so tight, there's not even a taxiway, all planes have to turn around after landing or before taking off and use the runway as a taxiway.

Where's Guitar Wolf when you need him? He would've sliced that airplane right in half!
