This was indeed not liked by the greater part of the western expat community in Japan. It was not because whitey felt oppressed, although some certainly did and they can go eat cake. The main reason is that it was seen as juvenile and ass-backwards for an international company like ANA to talk about "changing the image of Japanese people" only to resort to a stupid big-nose stereotype.
That's not an accurate depiction of white people. He's not fat, stupid or ruining the world with a culture of shortsighted greed, willful ignorance, and childish hubris.
