What, nobody submitted this before? I'd have submitted this a long time ago if I didn't know it wasn't already here. READ ALL ABOUT IT is the pinnacle of TV Ontario 15-minute educational shows and had a sci-fi story that was really super ambitious for its miniscule budget.

Theta and Otto are like the Canadian C3PO and R2D2.

Or, considering this is a show about reading and grammar, "I would have submitted this a long time ago had I known that it was not already here."

Man, this show freaked me out when I was little.

I seriously thought about writing a READ ALL ABOUT IT homage that was to READ ALL ABOUT IT what THE VENTURE BROS. is to JONNY QUEST, where the kids run a newspaper, but it's a tawdry tabloid and everyone in town knows the mayor's really a floating alien head who is only mayor to extract galactically-rare minerals from under town parks but keep re-electing him anyway because he keeps taxes low and also he has hypnosis powers. I suppose, to keep up with real-world Toronto mayor politics, the alien mayor would also be a crack addict. Also, the kids help out characters from children's literature like on the real show, but they refuse to help out Harry Potter because his adventures are decades from being in the public domain.

Unfortunately, coming up with premises is easy, fleshing them out is hard and requires effort.

They lost me when they started time travelling to Isaac Brock.

This show drove me CRAZY as a kid. I had no clue when (if?) it was on TV, so the only time I could watch it was when they showed it to us during school. That meant the episodes we saw were based on whenever/whatever one of the teachers remembered to record an episode. We ended up watching one episode a month, half the time in the wrong order and drove me up the fucking wall because it was like Twin Peaks for little kids and I wanted so badly to watch the whole thing.

Gonna take a weekend night this week and sit down for the whole thing now that I can FINALLY watch it.

Bad news: the episodes on YouTube only go up to Season 2 Episode 3. The rest aren't on Pirate Bay either. Looks like you've got a horrible obsessive search ahead of you.

BiggerJ - 2014-03-07

Oh, and if you DO find the rest, can you hook me up?

Wasn't season 2 a massive disappointment anyway? I don't remember much about it, I don't think it got rerun nearly as much as the original season. I think I remember a black kid going back in time to the war of 1812 and encountering Laura Secord or something.

Forced to watch this in public school. Dunedin or (however it is spelled) is still terrifying. To. This. Day.
