Can... Can we all not watch it?

I do that with most videos I comment on.

I hope most parents of autistic kids aren't thinking about hitting them in the face while shoving them and yelling "I hate you."
Jet Bin Fever
Well that was depressing.

The other day I happened to catch a little bit of Dr. Phil, and I realized: Not even he believes in his show any more. He knows that it's the only way for him to maintain his standard of living, but deep down inside, he hates what he's become and is desperate for a way out. You can see it in his eyes.

This woman's accent told me everything I needed to know.

Holy crap, I just clicked to the middle of the video, to the part about her mother stabbing her father in the chest.

Caminante Nocturno
From what little I've seen of her, I think that I would also hate this woman's daughter. It's okay for me to hate her, though, because we're not related.

Ok, so a thing about humans (and certain other animals who live in groups, like primates) is that we can experience a thing. We can then fathom that we would or would not like that thing to happen to someone that is not ourselves and act accordingly. This seems like a simple idea but it is actually a long-evolved psychological hurdle. The problem is that it only works on people we perceive as close to us or our family group. A side effect of this is that this "switch" makes it hard to comprehend other people who are not in this circle as humans and as experiencing the same things we do in our daily lives.

This is vividly shown in species in little inhibitions (again chimps) by them living in small family groups that care for each other on a deep level, yet when they meet another family group, they have no issues brutally killing them and even eating their flesh. They literally do not perceive them as chimps on the same level as their family group. While it is dulled by our increased logic, it is quite possible for this to happen with humans as well. It's called Dunbar's number. I'm pretty sure it applies here.

I stole your two paragraphs as the opener to a longer essay to spark discussion elsewhere. Hope you don't mind the plagiarism, it was a great opener.

They should really just take your child away if you allow them to be filmed for a daytime talk show or reality show.
pastorofmuppets
Or even if you go on one of these shows without them.

WHO WANTS DESSERT
Judging by the fact that something like 95% of people who find out their kid has Down Syndrome decide to abort, the only reason why there aren't more people like this is because people who are honest with themselves decide to not have the kid in the first place.
dairyqueenlatifah
You'd be amazed how many people feel this way. The sad truth is, this woman happens to be one of the rare people in this position who's honest about their feelings, which is why she and her daughter really aren't the evil part.

The fact that Dr Phil is exploiting it under the guise of a moral arbiter...that's the evil part.

Took less than a minute for god to come up. She's a good christian.

THE FUCKING COMMENTS:

Echo Foxtrot writes:

"Oh boo fucking hoo, spergs are THE single most annoying pieces of shit to draw breath on this earth.

They always sperg out in public, they ruin all the fun when one of your friends brings one to a party, they say stupid inappropriate insulting shit all the time and if you beat the shit out of them, which you should, they get to play the victim, fuck them, just fuck them.

This one fucking time, oh man, so i was in this local teen ward for like the sixth time or something right, and i managed to slip some weed in, so like few hours in all us cool kids get together and blaze up in one of the bathrooms, had a couple girls there too shit was awesome, and ten fucking minutes later this fat smelly autist comes in and starts sperging out cuz nobody wanted to pass him the spliff cuz aspies go all sorts of apeshit when they get high, the fat fucking tub of shit walks out and straight up rats us out, i mean what the fuck we had to throw like five grams of dank kush down the fucking toilet before the nurse came in.

Since that day i made it my holy fucking crusade to humiliate and fuck with spergs in school and wherever they can be found."

Whoa. That kid's got a hell of a future. Sounds a bit like the Onion's Jim Anchower, gone bad.
