Welp, there's a mental image I had of gene completely destroyed. He doesnt like loud things and swearing. I get his point, but im surprised he never tried to BE the change he wanted to see in movies. Just kinda gave up. Then again, so did goldfinger.

I don't think he gave up. I think he is a man of humility. He's already confronted mortality. He isn't driven by success or the need for status among his peers. I find his life choices very admirable.
