sasazuka - 2014-05-16 I always check first to see if something's a dupe before submitting anything. If this is a dupe, whoever submitted it originally tagged it in such a terrible way that it doesn't show up at all in searches. Besides, this is straight from the official SESAME STREET stream, so it's as impeccable straight from the masters as is possible, not a fuzzy, degraded taped-off-TV-30-years-ago-at-ELP version.
Not that Betacam tapes don't also degrade, but not at the same rate as consumer VHS tapes.

Yay! I still have this record on vinyl from when I was a kid! Sesame Night Fever. Like the Ark of the Covenant it's probably buried somewhere in their basement underneath my dad's Spike Jones and Nestor Pistor records..

infinite zest - 2014-05-16 my parents are notoriously hoardy, especially my dad. When he was shipped off to Boot Camp my grandma threw away his MAD Magazine, issue #1. Read through but kept in good condition. Judging by what I've read, that could have paid for nearly half of my college tuition. :)

sasazuka - 2014-05-16 Surprisingly, "Disco Frog" isn't on SESAME STREET FEVER (the one with Grover on the cover in the SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER leisure suit). It's actually on the follow-up, SESAME DISCO.
Yes, that's right, there were two Sesame Street Disco albums.

SESAME STREET FEVER has much better cover art, with Bert, Ernie, and Cookie Monster in the background dressed up as the Bee-Gees. SESAME DISCO!'s album cover is kind of a cluttered mess, but at least it has seven tracks, one more than the previous album which should barely qualify as an LP.
I kind of know this first hand because, a few months ago, I was perusing vinyl albums at a Value Village thrift store, spotted SESAME STREET FEVER, almost bought it for the Grover cover art alone but I checked the track listing on the back and was dismayed that "Disco Frog" wasn't on it, so I put it back on the rack. I kind of regret it now, I should have gotten it anyway.

"Disco Frog" is one of the less-obvious items to show up on some people's "Sesame Street Nightmare Fuel" lists, I guess because the dancing version of Kermit uses a ghost-like visual effect.
Personally, as a little kid, I think I did interpret the dancing Kermit as a ghost, but it didn't really bother me. Dancing Kermit seemed like a benign ghost, like Casper.

I'm trying to think if there are any other celebrity deaths that affected me as much as Jim Henson's death and am still coming up blank. There will be, every so often, untimely celebrity deaths like Paul Walker, which I did find sad, but he wasn't a celebrity I felt a "connection" (rainbow?) with, despite never having met him, the way I did with Jim Henson, someone who it didn't seem possible could die, especially not at just 53.

infinite zest - 2014-05-17 My housemate has been watching the last of his DVDs he didn't sell (I'm in the process of moving) and it's "Dinosaurs," and a VHS of "fairy tale theatre" nearly every day. Amazed at how well those shows grew on me, from "I'm a baby ?fart? To existential dilemma.
