Heehee, he sounds like Klaus Nomi!

I've been a sucker for Christopher Lee: Singer ever since I first saw The Wicker Man.

Scrimmjob - 2014-05-28

Goddamn, Christopher Lee looks good for 92! Glad to see him doing as well as he is!

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-28

I had no idea he was that old! Amazing. He's lived a good life.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-28

It's good, but it's also sort of sad that all the songs have the same recurrent theme: "I am old and about to die".

Feels like an opera voice set atop generic guitar hero tracks.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-05-28

Try to imagine this if he had Queen interpreting the score of "Man of La Mancha" rather than whatever studio musicians were hanging around the bunker... the brother needs more firepower.

Does anyone know who the backing band is on this one? I tried to find the credits, but no luck; DuckDuckGo is just a sea of nearly identical press releases.

And yeah, the backing band is kind of lackluster. They're not terrible, but the compositions are nothing special. I think the problem is that most power metal guys are used to, and better suited for, upbeat, driving falsetto singers, not the gravely, stately opera of Mr Lee. Mr Lee sounds brilliant when he's doing spoken word intros and bridges for majestic power metal bands like Rhapsody, but his singing voice would be better utilized in, say, a doom metal, or a pagan black metal song.

I think, if it were up to me, I'd want to pair him with Therion; they'd complement his singing style beautifully! Nightwish might be able to use him properly, or possibly some old goth metal act, like (pre-synthpop) Theater of Tragedy. Nile could work, it'd be weird as fuck but I think it could work, and maybe even Borknagar or Burzum? I don't know. The point is: he's not well complemented by this band. While I could think of at least half dozen metal bands - even otherwise awesome metal bands! - that would have been a worse fit than this, they still dropped the ball.

Not to worry, though. It's only his third album: here's to his next EP at 93!

Helloween needs to stop denying us all and write "Keeper of the Eighth Key" for Christopher Lee to sing over.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-28

Helloween might work. They're very power-metally, which would be a problem for the reasons discussed above, but they've also shown themselves to be very creative and adaptable song-writers. I think they could figure out a way to use Christopher Lee properly.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-28

Now that I think of it, my god could he play a perfect Don Quixote!

OxygenThief - 2014-05-28

We were just watching Christopher Lee in "City of the Dead" and commented on how young he looked.

He was 40.

My dad loves Christopher Lee. Hello Fathers' Day present. I always get Max Von Sydow and Christopher Lee mixed up so I was trying to find Seventh Seal on Lee's imdb.. anyway 279 ACTING CREDITS!? I know some of those listed are videogame voices and such but DAMN SON!
