Needs a "bad 3d" tag to keep this great genre easy to browse.

You know, with the level of casual, home-based 3-D modeler/animator programs out there these days you seriously have to put fucking EFFORT into making an animation that looks like this.

Old_Zircon - 2014-10-10

Completely true.

Cool! I used to work with Mark's (the other guy from American Movie's) daughter so I hung out with these guys a bunch. Kate and Mike are really cool. And here's as good a time as any to promote Hamlet ADD, if it ever comes out, which is about as close to "POETV Makes a Movie" as any movie ever will be, probably. If it ever comes out.

Go on..

infinite zest - 2014-10-09

I meant more "Tell us about Mark".

Oh! Mark's super cool. His daughter and I worked together at a theatre back in Milwaukee and he'd come in there a bunch. I vaguely remember the "Jay and Silent Bob" treatment Mark and Mike got from American movie, so he was just a friend basically. I will admit that I did see American Movie before I got to know these guys, so I was interested in Coven (which premiered at my theatre) and Northwestern and all I really did was train the daughter in question, who now runs the film institute at UW Milwaukee basically. We were just drinking buddies but talked about Jodorowsky a lot. He wasn't drinking, just sprite and bitters, and was mostly just waiting for Dawn to get off work so eventually I'd get drunk and play pinball. Re the comment above, Robert R Jorge was also a voice in Leisure Suit Larry, loves to drink, and is probably the best actor I know. Mike I only met a couple of times, usually underneath the theatre at the bar. This is also how I got to know the redlettermedia people. We are all connected. Who says Milwaukee died when the Fonz jumped the shark?

*****

Amongst everything else, I'm fucking floored that he's into Jodorowsky.

Yeah. Can't say for sure if they were so aware when they were doing American Movie, but honestly I didn't know his work before I worked at the theatre, despite spending my college years in Madison acting like I knew everything about film, tipping my invisible fedora name dropping Godard, etc. The job itself was pretty much your standard movie theatre work, but I learned so much. Before The Room got big, we used to show El Topo and Holy Mountain as regular midnight movies along with (ugh) Rocky Horror. I know people like that movie but I go straight into flashback mode when I hear Timewarp. I've got some other stories too, like how Gordon Gano of the violent femmes was busking outside and the Pretenders literally tapped him on the shoulder, hence the first violent femmes show at the theatre. Also I can't remember which Plinkett Star Wars review it is, but a portion of the flashbacks/murder scenes etc. takes place inside and out. It's a bit of a rarity these days: I like Portland but there's no movie palace like that one. I mean there were, but most of them went out with VHS. I'm trying to convince those people to move to Portland, but when I go on like this I kind of wanna move back to Milwaukee.. :)

Nothing but net.

This is about as far as I got with 3D Studio Max.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-10-10

I would've been very proud of this in 5th grade.
