So, I guess we know where Edmund Morris got the title for his biography.

I was 12 when I saw this in theatres, so my tastes have probably changed, but it was actually pretty good. I was really into Dinosaurs at the time so I might have been going through withdrawal after its cancellation.

Gmork - 2014-11-14

Did this spawn the sitcom Dinosaurs or did this come after and make use of the old sitcom's costumes?

infinite zest - 2014-11-14

Dinosaurs was cancelled in 1994 so it was after it. The Wikipedia says that it went direct to video but I could've sworn I saw it in the theatre.

I think it was latter!

Old_Zircon - 2014-11-14

I'm pretty sure I remember this being in theaters but I didn't see it.

"Dinosaurs" wasn't just cancelled. It ended with extinction. Pretty dark.

Yeah I can't remember which one came first, the cancellation announcement or the logical (and very dark) conclusion. It was actually a pretty hard thing for me to watch, given that I was like 11. The show wasn't as funny as the Simpsons, and I missed most of the adult-ish references to other sitcoms when I was a kid, but still loved the Henson magic at work. I mean, I know that's what happened to the actual dinosaurs, but still.

Looking back I'd kind of like to hear that they found out they were cancelled and the writers were just like "fuck it. Let's traumatize some kids."

FUN FACT: Whoopi Goldberg tried to get out of doing this movie but they sued her and forced her to do it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-11-14

SAY! That really IS a fun fact!

BHWW - 2014-11-14

This doesn't seem like an actual film, this seems like a parody of vapid "high concept" films that would be the show-within-a-show of some scathing Hollywood satire.

infinite zest - 2014-11-14

I imagine that the original screenplay was darker and more violent, kind of like the original Robocop.

Remove the violence and swearing from Robocop, and tell me it's still not an OK movie. I can't believe I'm defending Theodore Rex right now.
