How could they have known something would happen?!?!? It's inconceivable that in 1995 someone would be able to conceive that sometime in the future there might be an outbreak or epidemic of some sort! Truly these card game makers must have been plugged into the Military-Industrial-Occult-Illuminati Complex!
Conspiracy nuts have been going on and on about this game for some years now, as seen at just a few examples here:
It's been said to have "predicted" everything from the BP oil spill to bird flu/swine flu/Ebola to the 9/11 attacks, to the plans of the New World Order or have revealed the time of the Rapture, depending on which nuts with their varied whackadoo fringe theories and fringe ideologies you read.
It must be awesomely easy to fuck with these people. I'd love to leave a comment on Youtube and be all "There is going to be a fire somewhere" and watch them freak out when, 37 years later, a fire does indeed happen and we get an angry lecture on how proper critical thinking skills could've prevented this.
The term is Predictive Programming, and CTs see it everywhere. For instance, in Dark Knight Rises there's a scene where someone points at a map and one location on the map is labeled "Sandy Hook." Boom, proof of conspiracy.
Of course, they never ask why the Illuminati/NWO/Elders of Zion feel the need to lay out all their super secret plans in mass media... but common sense and CTs are hardly ever on speaking terms.
the card game is great, but anyone taking anything seriously that came out of the Illuminatus Trilogy books has totally missed the point of those books.
